There's a Disturbed concert at First Ave at the beginning of November. I want to go. Anyone want to come with?

I am now making a point to figure out when my favorite bands are on tour. I completely did not know that System of a Down played in Minneapolis a couple weeks ago, and that depresses me greatly. Seriously if I were to never get to see them live I think I would hate myself forever.

Also, whining and bitching about work ahead.

Dear customers that must have failed math in high school: If you go out to eat and you thought the server did a very good job, the standard is to tip 15%. What part of this do you not understand? If your bill comes to 50 dollars, do not leave me 4, you cheap bastards. 15% or $50 is $7.50. If you don't want to pay for the service, then go to fucking mcdonalds.
Fuck off,
Me.

I definitely do not enjoy running my ass off for 4 1/2 hours and making twenty five fucking dollars. I couldn't even pay for my groceries tonight with that. I hate working saturday nights for this reason. It's the same thing every time. I like working wednesdays and even mondays; at least then I usually make what I work for. blech

I was also planning about bitching about school, but I guess instead I should probably work on my 331 program. YES IT'S 12:00 ON A SATURDAY NIGHT AND I'M CODING C++ WHAT THE FUCK.

I think the only thing that could possibly make me feel better at this point was if I woke up tomorrow and it was suddenly December 22nd. What a shitty ass day

I HAVE WON THE BATTLE AGAINST THE SPIRALING JAVA PROGRAM.

However, it is a very sore loser. It will generate the spiral correctly, and then promptly freeze my computer*, the bastard. So, I will have to try running it on the computers at state. All that really matters is that it runs on the Solaris ones.

Okay, seriously, this whole FUCKING weekend, when I was not working at work, I was working on this program. All friday night (except when I went to my parents' for maybe an hour), Saturday after work, early this morning before work, then when I came home I took a shower and worked on the program. Also, work sucked a lot, it was horribly dead last night and all day today, so I don't know if I made enough to properly feed myself the next time I have to get groceries. And my dad insists that I take my car in, but I think I'll have to tell him I can't right now because my checkbook is completely empty from paying tuition. THANKS TUITION.

Okay, so that is...like...12 or 13 hours of my life in the past three days for the spiral program. One program. And there will be at least a dozen, if not two dozen, more programs this semester. and that is just one class. This is why I am going to go crazy. Completely, absolutely, mad.

The only good thing of this is that, at least the spirals look kinda pretty. Like, maybe I can stick them into my artwork somehow.

*I am...rather loopy. And not quite all there right now. It took me three tires to type 'computer' there, the first two were comber and compuber. Sheesh. GET WITH IT BECKY.

AHHH WORK.

@____@

I don't want to go back. Today was crazy enough, thanks.

YES I LOVE IT when they need everything for buffet and there's noodles going and oh yay slips up and they need more pudding and eggs exploding ahhh!

Seriously. I had to boil eggs, and one went "poof"! and there's bits of egg yolk floating in the pot and then it starts to boil over cause the exploded egg made this nasty foam so I'm like AHH remove pan for two seconds, and I had to do this every 20 seconds seriously for 10 minutes when people were freaking out like "WE NEED SPAG NOW. WE NEED ALF SAUCE NOW!!11!!!" And God I don't want them to boil over cause I'd have to clean the mess but I have to get these pastas done now and my noodle timer's going off and I can't find the container to heat the meat sauce and AHHH EGGS ASPLODING.

I have to leave like right now or I'll be late for my second shift.

In the past 48 hours, I have worked 24 of them. woo.

Checked my grades...B and A- for the two classes I took. Yay! Double yay 'cause I thought I was going to get a C+ in the one class. Go me!

Tomorrow I was supposed to work Pam's day shift and Mindy would work my night shift. Well, now, apparently Heather is taking the day shift, and Mindy still wants to work tomorrow night, so I have tomorrow off. So I think I'll sleep in and go for a run tomorrow night.

I'll be really glad when this Spass Tag race is over. Ya know, I don't really *like* running. I'd much rather play DDR or go rollerblading. Of course, it's not the same workout, but I find DDR/rollerblading to be much more enjoyable.

How does the court system get off with being so incompetent sometimes?
I called the serburne county court today, asked for who the cop said I should, and was transferred over. She wasn't there, so I got the voice mail. I called back and asked if there was anyone else I could talk to. Nope, so I had to leave a message. She called me back and informed me that someone else actually dealt with ticket fines, so I was transferred over to them and then they told me that my ticket wasn't in the system yet...but after telling her the offense she told me it would be $130. holy hell.
I don't want to tell my parents about this, but since my phone is on a family plan under my mom's name, she gets a list of all the calls made to and from my phone. Hopefully she won't ask/notice why I was talking to some 763 number three times in a 1/2 hour perioud... o_o

There's no way I'm going to make any money tonight. My plan would be to be a table hog so I could hopefully get more tips, but I think Steve said I had to train in another new server. Which means I have to sacrifice most of my time to make sure she gets trained in right. Usually I don't mind except I need to make up for that outrageous fine.

DAMN THE MAN.

Very strange day at work.

It was incrediby busy during my fry shift. I think I had more slips up for fry food today than last Saturday and the Saturday before combined. It took me until 5:30 before I had enough of the prep list done that I could go home (and later that evening we ran out of rig, and had I known we were so low I would have made more...but it wasn't on my prep list and I didn't notice).

Tonight, however, was dead. Go figure, my pay rate is the same as a cook, but when I could have been making tips it was dead.
At 8 or 9ish a customer in the bar was having a stroke. It was scary, because at some point they stopped breathing I think...I didn't see much really (I prefered to stay out of the way)...we had a few of the waite park cops and an ambulance. I have no idea what condition she's in now. I hope she's okay...
During this, two of the cops rushed out of the restaurant because they got a call about a motorcycle accident. No idea what came out of that one, either, but usually motorcycle accidents mean Sucks To Be You for everyone involved.

And I get to work another double tomorrow at the other job! Rachelle and I might hang out afterwards if she's feeling up to it (she called me today and left a voice message, and she sounded pretty sick).

Then Monday I can say my summer vacation is actually starting. It's depressing, though, knowing I'll be taking that damn summer class in a month.

I should be studying. But I'm trying hard to avoid that.

When I worked on Saturday, I found out that the whole restaurant (except the bar/lounge) had gone non-smoking. YAY!! I'll only have to wait on people smoking on mondays and wednesdays when I get in before the bartender does at 5. woooeeee!
Really, waiting on smokers is a pain...I hate the smell and the smoke always irritates me.

um...nothing else really.

Last night.

Work was really slow. So slow, that by about 9:00 or so I doubted I'd have any more customers for the rest of the night, and I could go home right at close (11:00) and be in bed by midnight.
HAHA.
Somewhere around 9/9:30 one of the water pipes burst. We didn't know the best/easiest way to properly fix the pipe ourselves (was a pinhole in a 1" copper pipe up in the attic in a hard to reach area), so I called my Dad and asked what he should do...he ended up coming over and fixing it. It took about two hours or so from the time the pipe burst to when it was fixed, and in the meantime we had the water shut off.
And during this time I got a table of 8. of course. They walked in, I explained the situation, and said, "basically the only thing we've got to drink right now are cans of pop or beer." (The fountain pop was still working, but since it also depended on the water, we didn't know how long it would last). They were pretty cool with it and that turned out okay (it was frustrating in the meantime though).
I didn't punch out until midnight, since the dirty dishes were very backed up since we couldn't run the dishwasher. yay.

And yesterday I had a crazy work dream. I was comming into work at Sammy's, and a table had just gotten there...it was Richard Dean Anderson*, a lady and a couple kids! I was like, OMG I wanna wait on them! But I had to change clothes or something, and I took too long so Emily ended up taking them. I think the dream changed, but then it went back to Sammy's. Emily had only taken their drink order and gave it to me and said I could take over. Like my normal work dreams, I was completely incompetent. It took me so freaking long to get four pops, plates, and silverwares. Then the back half of the restaurant changed into the back half of my grandparents' old house on the river. I was looking outside from the kitchen, and I had a carmel chew candy in my mouth. (I need to explain a bit here. A lot of times in my dreams, I'll be chewing gum, and I try to spit it out, but it won't all go out. The little bit in my mouth will get bigger and bigger until I can't easily talk. I'll try to spit it out, but I won't be able to spit all of it out, and it will grow again. It's very weird). Anyway, I couldn't seem to eat the carmel, only chew it. So I tried to spit it out, but I still had some in my mouth. And it grew back to the size it was before. At this point, I thought, "woah, I might be dreaming. If I can get this carmel completely out of my mouth, then I'm not dreaming. But if it keeps growing back in my mouth, then I'm dreaming and I should wake up!" I tried getting rid of the carmel and couldn't, and came to the conclusion that I was dreaming. I tried to wake up, but realized I couldn't, and then the dream changed to something else (I don't remember anymore).

*RDA didn't look like how he does today, but rather the 80's MaGyver look.

Now I'm gotta put away laundry and study for a test I have to take in 12 hours. joy.

Long day at work.
We were busy all day, and I was so far behind on my fry prep list. And it didn't help that the stupid pop machine was broken.

We use fountain pop, so most of the boxes of syrup are stacked in the kitchen between the fry side and the dishroom. There's pressurized air tubes that connect the syrups packs to the machine up front, and sometimes, due to a burst of air flow or whatever it is, one of thingies will make a loud "PSHAA" sound. One was broken, and kept making that noise. Over and over and over. FOR OVER THREE HOURS. Finally someone came to fix it, but in the mean time we were all going insane.

Tomorrow the Walker Art center is reopening (after being remodeled for...I don't know how long. A long time). Rachelle and I are going to go, and after that we'll head to work (my new job). Last week it wasn't so bad. Things work a lot differently there than at Sammy's (for example, Sammy's has a computer system so food orders are sent through the computer and printed out; at the river in slips must be handwritten and given to the cooks).

tra la laaaaa.

I got a response back on the query I sent to DA.

( cut for length.Collapse )

work wasn't so bad, except the high number of stiffs tonight.
To the guy that paid his tab with a $100 bill in front of my face and did not tip me a damn thing: Fuck you, you asshole. I hope after you die, you get reincarnated as a maggot.
And to the people that left me a 16 cent tip: What the fuck? You're just as bad as Mr 100-dollar-bill-guy. Fuckin A. I hate you. I know you come in every once in a while, and if I get stuck with you next time, you better belive you're getting crappy-ass less than stellar service. Same goes for the rest of you jerkwads that don't leave a tip. GRRR.

But to the people that only looked like white trash: My apologies for misjudging you when you first walked in. You were super polite. Your kids got a little annoying running around everwhere, but my manager was giving out free slushies to all the kids so I'm sure they must have had one heck of a sugar high. And thankyou thankyou for picking up the large chunks of food your kids had thrown on the floor. <3 <3 You rock.
