Saudi Arabia is host to only a single recognized MVT-type zinc deposit at Jabal Dhaylan. The current mineral resources are approximately 4.1 Mt with an average grade of 5.3% Zn and 1.1% Pb. In 1968, Zn-Pb-Cu-Ag-barite mineralization was discovered by the BRGM in arkose and limestone at Jabal Dhaylan. In the main prospect area known as Calamine Hill, 21 diamond drill holes were completed to shallowly test the zinc mineralization in the weathered zone.
