Praise God. The fires seemed to be a little bit curbed, and my area was still not affected. Here's hoping I have an apartment to return to. My area wasn't even evacuated. But over 500,000 people have been. It's still horrible.
Thank you guys for your comments; they mean a lot to me. And worri, yes it is in the box, and the kids are amazing, so it's not a hassle at all.
Kim and I are hoping to go back on Thursday, and school has been shut down for the week. K, that's all. Love you all! Stay safe and keep your happy thoughts and prayers tuned in to SD!!
Evacuated safely to my roommate's aunt's house. There's still no mandatory evacuation in my area, but with the way the fires are looking, there might be by tomorrow. Guys, I really don't want my stuff to burn. I have three sets of clothing with me, and a box of things that are irreplaceable - original fanart, my mijan wand, pictures, and the like. Everything else... well, it's still in SD in danger of burning. This kind of thing really puts it all in perspective.
Anyway, school is still closed for tomorrow, so Kim and I will be here until then at least. I'll try to update ya'll, but I dunno. We're just playing it by ear. But for now, I have a comfy bed, good food, air filters on the A/C, and four children under the age of 6 (Kim'a cousins) who adore me. Life, overall, is good.
My roommate is going up to stay with her aunt for at least tonight, and I'm going to go with her. Better safe than sorry, eh? Plus, home-cooked food! I'll try to update later, but I don't know if I'll be able to.
So, yes, I'm still safe, just worried and wanting to be somewhere else. Hope you all are safe too, regardless of fires!
If anyone who knows I'm in San Diego and has heard about the Southern California fires is wondering... I'm fine. It's a little bit scary, because people about 20 miles northeast of where I live are being evacuated. The campus is closed today, and classes have been canceled. The upside is that I was supposed to have an in-class midterm/essay today and now I don't. The downside is... you know, the soot in the air and everything being burned.
You guys, I'm scared. I don't want to evacuate, I don't want to see people lose their homes and their lives. One person has already died, and many more are injured. Please, if you are the praying type, pray with me that this won't go on much longer.
