Ryan Seacrest reading Twilight aloud on his radio show is just about the funniest thing I have ever heard.
You can ignore about the first minute and a half of each video; it's just Ryan being Ryan. Also, I've heard some much funnier, overly-dramatic ones on the radio, but these are the two I could easily find.
I forgot how AWESOME it feels to read an entire book in one day.
Today I read Paper Towns, the new book from John Green, who is pretty famous on YouTube as being part of the VlogBrothers YouTube channel. He's an absolutely fantastic writer, Paper Towns is no exception. I don't want to give too much away, but the book is about how we picture other people and how we imagine them to be. Sometimes we imagine them accurately, but more often than not, how we see people is really a reflection of how we feel about ourselves.
It's a really interesting book, hilarious and deep at the same time. There's a road trip in which a high school senior pees into an empty beer bottle because the other people in the car don't want to stop. There are pranks with dead fish and eyebrow removal. There are multiple passages in which the main character reads and tries to decipher Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself." (I was definitely in lit major heaven while reading, not gonna lie.) There's a runaway, at least one death, the world's largest collection of black Santas, a senior prom (complete with keg stands) and quite a few penis jokes (come on, these are teenage boys we're talking about). When was the last time you read a book with Walt Whitman, black Santas, AND penis jokes?
I definitely recommend this book. In its first five days of publication, it made the New York Times bestseller list, debuting at number 5. It's been getting great critical acclaim, too. You should give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I speak, of course, of Neil Patrick Harris. My dear and wonderful worri discovered tonight that Neil was in a production of Sweeney Todd that was produced for TV in 2001. She's downloading it for me (since MegaUpload has been my enemy lately), but in the meantime, she linked me to this, her favorite song from the show as sung by Neil.
Now, I admit, after seeing Dr. Horrible, I knew that Neil could sing, but I had NO idea had could sing like THAT! *swoons* The song is just beautiful, too. I can't wait to watch the whole production. worri tells me that his role is quite large, and I must rely on her knowledge of the show, since I've never seen the show or a movie adaptation. I'm SO excited. And hey, while I'm at it... have some Neil singing RENT! (Embedding was disabled. Boo.)
A lot of you are probably sick of hearing me talk about David Cook. I'm really trying not to talk about him as much, though!
Seriously, though... if you have just 2 minutes to spare you HAVE to watch this video. David Cook was on VH1's Best Week Ever and he's absolutely hysterical.
Okay, I'm tired (physically and emotionally) and completely in love with Cook's win tonight. I will be watching it over and over again in the next several days. Thank God for DVR.
I can't really go into detail right now. I'm hardly coherent and I really need to be doing my homework right now.
But for now, let me just say that I cannot stop watching David and ZZ Top performing "Sharp Dressed Man." I definitely giggling and squealing my entire way through the performance when it was first on my TV.
Enjoy it for yourselves. There's an awesome instrumental part in the middle and David's voice is like gold. (Also, check out David's beautiful new Luna guitar that was custom made for him.)
Watching the American Idol elimination show. David Cook is the most adorable thing ever, seriously. He just makes me smile. If you don't know who I'm talking about, watching these:
This was last night. Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby."
His best performance BY FAR, in my opinion. Chris Cornell's version of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean."
So anyway... I love this guy. Next week, Ryan Seacrest said, is ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER WEEK! Holy crap you guys, if David Cook sings anything from Phantom of the Opera I will either faint, piss myself, or both at the same time. Seriously. I can barely comprehend how amazing that would be.
Hey, muses_circle, I thought of you when I saw this. I don't know if you've seen it before, but it's pretty awesome. It's a slam poem called "What Do Teachers Make?"
Writing about slash in an paper is SO AWKWARD! I hope my professor doesn't think I'm a perv who needs help. I honestly have no idea how slash is viewed by "outsiders."
I'm tired. It's almost four AM and I have a final at eight. HA!
And miles to go before I sleep.
P.S. The Brotherhood 2.0 project owns my soul. If I fail my final tomorrow, those two are the reason why.
ETA: Would anyone be interested in reading my essay? It's not terribly long (about 1800 words), and I think parts of it are pretty good. I could just post excerpts. I talk about (1) copyright issues, (2) the difference between "author" and "writer," (3) the idea of commenting on fanfic and the interaction between reader and writer, and (4) SLASH! and its effect on queer theory in literary studies.

Please, be honest with me. I promise my feelings won't be hurt if no one cares, and I'd rather not take the time to format it to HTML and put it up if no one will read it. Enjoy the poll! I'm off to study a bit more before I go to sleep take my nap before the final.
