Forum/Community workaround(s)
Hi SE Community!

Here are the first things you can try when you have a game problem :

1 - Restart the PC
+
*2 - Verify the game files with Steam.

Or

*3 - *Delete the CFG file. (steps below / go to *)

Or

*4 - Delete the content of the ShaderCache folders. (that one fixed loading problems)

_____________________________________

*2 = How to Verify integrity of game cache:

- Right click on Space Engineers in your Steam Library.
- Go to properties.
- Go to LOCAL FILES tab.
- Click Verify integrity of game cache
- When done try the game.
___________

*3 = Hit the Windows key + R = opens the "Run" window to type in :
%appdata%\SpaceEngineers

> Goes to the SpaceEngineers folder
C: users / your username / appdata / roaming / spaceengineers

>> then *delete the ''SpaceEngineers.cfg'' file and try the game.

*delete = Doing so resets all SE options and controls to default, a new cfg file will be created.

____________

*4 = ShaderCache folders are in appdata SE, same place above ^
C: users / your username / appdata / roaming / spaceengineers / ShaderCache
+
May also delete the content of the other ShaderCache folder in the Steam folder :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers\Content\ShaderCache

How to test a world or find broken/conflicting Mods :

1 - Select your save.
2 - Click the "Save as" button on the left.
3 - Change the save name to create a *copy.
4 - Withdraw or add one Mod at a time in the copy.

5 - Report to the Mod author (on WS item page) when broken Mod found so he can fix/update his Mod, always very kind to let them know.

*copy
Never test with your original save, better create a copy and fix the original save when solution found in the copy, this way you will not mess up your save.

Safe steps
Try fresh install of the game IF still not working :

1 - Backup Saves and Blueprints, copy/paste to USB storage key or else.
Saves and Blueprints are here :
Hit the Windows key + R and type in : %appdata%\SpaceEngineers
Goes to the SpaceEngineers folder
C: users / your username / appdata / roaming / spaceengineers

2 - Uninstall the game with Steam.
3 - Delete all remaining SE folders/files in the Steam folder.
4 - Delete all remaining SE folders/files in the appdata SE on your C: Drive.
5 - Restart PC.
6 - Install Space Engineers game.

7 - Create a new No Mods/No Plugins world, load to create a new Blueprint (a few blocks will do), save and exit the world.

-> We do so (#7 above) to have the Saves and Bluepints folders created new.

Online World saves goes here :
C:\Users\ (your username) \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves\ (Your Steam ID)
Local Blueprints goes here :
C:\Users\ (your username) \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints\local

MP - Not able to connect to servers :
Some members were not able to join MP worlds and here is what they did to fix :

1 - The problem was caused by router MTU being set to 1400 to my ISP gateway. Changing the MTU to 1500 fixed the problem.
MTU = Maximum Transmission Unit

2 - Turn off ASUS' ROG GameFirst, that app got reported preventing members to play MP.

3 - Also one member was stuck in space and could not see the respawn screen, he switched to Wifi to fix.
(switch to direct wire connected to home router if you already use Wifi)

NOTE
One player reported that "CloudFlare WARP" and "Network optimizers" can give problems on servers, like can't see HUD.

NEW about Crash to desktop on server :

We are finding that some players loading into areas with a large amount of blocks or voxel deformation are getting CTD. To get around this, they need to turn down their graphics to minimum until they have loaded in. After this they can safely turn them back up.

Xbox controller problem
https://steamcommunity.com/app/244850/discussions/1/3546050190321298588/

NEW - About controller, comment from another user :
" I tried disabling the controller via the Steam app, and didn't have any luck.. then I went in and installed the extended xbox controller drivers with Steam, after the PC restart it's working fine now. (I'm not sure if this is 100% fixed, because it seems to come and go..) It's fixed for now though! "

Updated

1 - Right click space engineers in your Games Library, click properties, click Controller and select "Disable Steam Input" in drop down arrow, plug the xbox controller and load the game.

2 - install the extended xbox controller drivers with Steam, we can find it in "Big picture Mode".

BUG - New created worlds are added to the default Custom Worlds

A member shared a working solution :

Hazode :

I have had this issue in the past. What has happened is that somehow you saved your game over the file for the custom world. (I have no idea how you do it by the way, I did it once and still don't know)

I fixed it by deleting the specific custom world folder that was overwritten and then validated my game files. You can find the custom world folders in your SE install directory, just right click the game on steam and click browse local files, and then navigate to this folder:
SpaceEngineers/Content/CustomWorlds

_________

Steps To Reproduce the bug (STR) :

1. Start new default game on Star System custom world with no mods
2. At respawn screen, exit game to main menu before choosing a spawn location
3. At main menu select continue game
4. Choose a respawn location
5. Save the game and exit to main menu
6. Go to new game and you will notice that the default Star System custom world is now overwritten

manifest not available
= Connection problem and a PC restart or change the Steam download region will fix.

OR, contact Steam and they should tell you the following :

Flush Steam DNS

You can also flush your Steam DNS to try to solve the Steam Manifest Unavailable error. Flushing your Steam DNS will essentially reset the configuration on the computer.

Here’s how to Flush Steam DNS:
- Press Windows + R button on keyboard to open the Run dialog box
- Enter “steam://flushconfig” and hit enter
- You will get a Steam dialog box with the following error message - “This will clear your local download cache and you will need to login to Steam again”
- Click OK
- Restart Steam and enter your credentials again.
+
- Open the Run dialog box again (Windows + R)
- Type and enter the following: “cmd”
- In the command prompt, type and enter the following: “ ipconfig /flushdns”
- Close the window
- Restart your computer.

If the game refuses to launch at all, no app activity and such:

Do not trust Steam verifying integrity of files. Before doing stuff like removing the game and such, use the Beta option to downgrade to most recent Beta patch, then try running it. If it works, switch back from Beta to No Beta (up to date game version) and game should be working again

The other game versions are here :

- Right click on Space Engineers in your Steam Library.
- Go to properties.
- Go to Betas tab.

Note
The first one on top of the Betas list named "None" is the current game version (public download).

Anyone finding this issue in 2023, i tried using long tool path name, renaming worlds and moving save folder.

How to transfer Online world saves to the Offline folder :
NO INTERNET CONNECTION TO STEAM

1 - We have to create a new world while offline (not connected to Steam) so the game can create the "Offline Folder" that will have this number as folder name 1234567891011

2 - Copy the Online saves that are in the longer number folder that will be your Steam ID
-> Paste in to the Offline folder that will be in the SE Saves folder.

Saves are here :
Hit the Windows key + R and type in : %appdata%\SpaceEngineers
Goes to the SpaceEngineers folder
C: users / your username / appdata / roaming / spaceengineers

Online World saves goes here :
C:\Users\ (your username) \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves\ (Your Steam ID)

Offline World saves goes here :
C:\Users\ (your username) \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves\1234567891011

It works both ways so we can copy/paste Offline to Online, too.

I have solved the problem by holding LMB or RMB and just pressing the other mouse button. Strange

MP CONNECTION PROBLEM

A lot are not able to play MP these days (me too) and the only solution that helped so far was to change the Steam Download Region.

How to change Download Region :
1 - Open your Steam app.
2 - Click on "Steam" link/button in top left corner of your Steam app. and click Settings.
3 - A small Window will open for you to select "Download" on the left list and try other Region from the first option on top of the right side options (first on top).
+
Try the closest region to your home first but some said they tried a lot of different regions before finding a working one.

______

Info +

I've tested a few days ago because some had the exact same problem going on these days, we had to change Steam Download Region and set back to the default region about 3 times to fix.

How to share the complete game log on Steam :
The log can be found here: C:\Users\{YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\SpaceEngineers.log
or simply paste this into your Explorer:
%appdata%\SpaceEngineers

The log file should be from the game session where you've encountered the bug. If you start the game again, the log will be overwritten.
post log file to https://pastebin.com/ and share the link on forum.

Some players having rubberbanding problems noticed that adding a sub grid on the ship can solve the probelm.

FIX
https://youtu.be/6vNZmRE899w

From member named Engi RedBeard :

You ever notice when you are in a ship with no subgrid and you roll and it rebounds back a little the other way after you let off the q or e key? That is prediction. Subgrid stops that.

You ever notice when your grinder/welder ship is grinding/welding up another ship and it bounces back and forth slightly like a really short teleport, maybe 1/4 of a block length at a fairly high frequency? That is prediction. Subgrid stops that.

You ever notice when you drilling into an asteroid and your ship is doing the above high frequency short bouncing...you guessed it, prediction...subgrid

Or when your railguns fire off 5-15 degrees off in some random direction from your cursor aim point when railguns are supposed to have pinpoint precision...same

Subgrids on every grid that moves. Subgrid is a rotor, piston or hinge anywhere on the grid.

How to fix a Blueprint having the Block #1 at a bad position :
1 - Enable creative mode from the admin menu Alt+F10 (if survival) and go in space (no Gravity).

2 - Create a new grid by placing the Projector block (Block #1) floating in space.

3 - Paste the Blueprint of your ship/grid away from the projector.

4 - Aim at the "Reference block" (Block #2) on your ship, so a block in center under it, or on the side or front or back, and hit Ctrl+C to have the copy in hand.
-> Reference block is the block that will merge on the projector so the Block #2.

5 - Aim at the projector you previously placed and paste the copy you have in hand on it.

=
Now you have a new grid where the "Block #1" is the projector.
+
You will have to rename because doing so creates a new grid.
