Shisha wind covers: keep your charcoal under control when the wind picks up

You prepare your shisha, position the charcoal exactly where you want it and head outside. One gust of wind later and suddenly there's ash everywhere. That's where a shisha wind cover comes in: a simple but extremely useful accessory for protecting your charcoal and maintaining more consistent heat management.

A wind cover sits around the bowl and charcoal, creating a barrier against draughts and gusts of wind. This helps prevent airflow from affecting how quickly your charcoal burns and reduces the amount of ash being blown around your setup.

What does a shisha wind cover do?

Its main purpose is to protect shisha charcoal from the wind, making it particularly useful on terraces, in gardens and during other outdoor sessions. However, a wind cover can also help retain heat around the bowl when needed.

By partially enclosing the charcoal area, it reduces heat loss caused by moving air. This can help maintain a more consistent heat source and can be particularly useful later in a session when your charcoal has started to lose some of its heat output.

Remember that a wind cover can also increase heat retention. If you're using one with a Heat Management Device (HMD) or several charcoal cubes, keep an eye on the temperature to avoid overheating your tobacco. The idea is to manage the heat, not turn your bowl into Mordor.
