Mineral List

8 valid minerals.

Detailed Mineral List:

ⓘ Arsenopyrite
Formula: FeAsS
ⓘ Calcite
Formula: CaCO3
Habit: steeply rhombohedral crystals with low rhombohedral termination (< 20 mm across)
Colour: pale pink
ⓘ Fluorite
Formula: CaF2
Habit: sharp octahedra
Colour: green-purple-colourless (zoned); pale green
Description: Cooper & Stanley (1990): In 1987, sharp octahedral crystals of green to purple zoned crystals (< 6mm) were found in cavities in quartz with calcite and iridescent pyrite from recent workings on the Smith vein. [...] The fluorite octahedra have green cores with later purple and colourless zones, and covered areas to about 40 x 20 mm (D.R. Hacker Collection). On the opposite side of the same level, pale green unzoned octahedra have subsequently been found (D.I. Green, pers. comm.)."
ⓘ Microcline
Formula: K(AlSi3O8)
Habit: drusy crystalline aggregates to c. 10mm
Colour: white
Description: From the recent workings on the adit level on the Smith vein (D.R. Hacker, pers. comm., det. University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST): IR.)
ⓘ Pyrite
Formula: FeS2
Colour: iridescent
ⓘ Pyrrhotite
Formula: Fe1-xS
Habit: massive; sharp, tabular to about 10mm
ⓘ Quartz
Formula: SiO2
ⓘ Scheelite
Formula: Ca(WO4)
Description: Cooper & Stanley (1990): "A large 'walk-in' vugh lined with quartz crystals and containing large scheelite crystals was found in the Smith vein in the 1970s, but unfortunately, although its remains can still be seen, no record was made of this rare occurrence at the time of its discovery."
