Hello, fellow Lushies!

My name is Ami, and I'm relatively new to the Lush world. My best friend Dana has gotten me completely addicted. I even chased down the UPS driver today to get my package.

I wanted to share a picture of one of the products I got in a birthday care package from my best friend, Dana.

HELP!!! Peeling Hands!!! (Maybe from Ocean Salt?)

So, I switched my facial regimen this year to using Ocean Salt(I previously used Dark Angels), and my skin has never looked better!!! However, now my hands have been peeling like crazy. :( My hands are peeling so bad that it almost looks like I have a bad case of athletes foot peelies on them. I have tried using Charity Pot twice a day, which I love, but it would seem that it is just not enough to keep them moisturized. Any one experienced this or have any suggestions??? (People at work are starting to look at me funny.)

Hey Lushies! :)

Since I live in Oklahoma which has no LUSH to claim for its own (yet, boohoo) I made sure to visit them as much as I could during my recent visit to San Francisco last week! It still amazes me that a city can have TWO LUSH locations...sigh, them San Franciscans are spoiled ;P

Anyway, while I was there I was able to get some products I've been meaning to try out as well as get some of the usuals (such as: Honey Trap, Alkmaar soap, face toner, and some shower gel). What I managed to get and/or try out that was new for me were a few really cool things!

Space Girl: This ballistic makes such pretty sparkly water! It's light on color (only produced a slight lavender shade) but the shimmer in the water was a nice touch. It is also very fragrant and smelled great! The ballistics I have tried beforehand were disappointing in this regard (such as Sex Bomb and Vanilla Fountain) so it was exciting to finally find a bath bomb that can pack a potent smell in the tub. Recommended.

Ultralight: I only got a sample of this stuff and so far I enjoy it. It's light on my face (duh), lacks any fragrance and since my skin is blissfully problem-free I don't need much maintenance besides cleaning every day (which is done mostly by my face toner). I typically don't use any moisturizers or cleansers on my face but I can easily see myself incorporating Ultralight into my daily regimen. The only downside I've found so far is that living in a place that reaches around 100 degrees F doesn't mesh well with a face that's recently been moisturized lol. Sweat is my enemy!

Lovely Jubblies: Another sample I received. This stuff smells wonderful; reminds me a bit of gardenia but with other scents as well. The cream itself is slightly thick but easy to smooth over the skin and absorbs quick enough. I've used it for two days and haven't noticed anything, haha, but maybe in the week or so to come I will :P But the smell...mmm, I wish I got a whole pot; I'd use it as a regular lotion if I could.

Mini Lotion Pots: Such a cool idea! Now you can carry little pots of Dream Cream, Karma Kream and Creme Anglaise in your pocket! I got one of each and gave Karma to my mom. I'd recommend these to those who want to carry some hand lotion on hand in their bags; they're a little too small to use as travel sizes I think (unless you wanna go through the whole little pot or two anyway).

Silky Underwear: I was ALMOST sold on this, however I never use powders of any kind. It's light on smell, has no talc (which makes it acceptable to use on your lady bits), and really makes your skin super soft in conjunction with a lotion (such as Vanilla Deelite). My mom purchased some instead so I may have to snag it from her from time to time~

This next week Lovely Jubblies goes on sale, and I had used some Fever massage bar and Fever solid perfume and was thinking of how much I liked it and how I wanted to come up with a way to demo it to more people.

So I came up with: Honey Bee-ber Fever

That's right. Everyone's favorite floppy hair teen goes Lush-y.

To give yourself the Honey Bee-ber Fever, start by washing with Flying Fox, then use Lovely Jubblies on your chest and Fever on arms and legs. Finish off with Silky Underwear!

It's all very jasmine, honey, and rose-y, deep and floral. To do this in the store, wash just your arm, then put Lovely Jubblies on your hand, Fever on your arm and dust away. IT SMELLS DELISH.

So....that's my rec for Lovely Jubblies. I really like it, but it's a little heavy for me in the summer, so I think adding Silky Underwear and pairing it with the Fever scent is awesome.

TRY IT AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!!!!

How to make a body lotion or hand cream scented with solid perfume

Has anyone ever tried making a hand or body lotion scented with solid perfume? I have no idea where to start (I've never made my own cosmetics before) but I am thinking that I could find an unscented lotion or hand cream and maybe add some of the solid perfume to it?

I really want 'The Olive Branch' scented lotion, but since LUSH doesn't currently offer one, I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable and crafty can help me :)

EDITED TO ADD:
Thank you, pudding_girl! I made my own lotion today and it worked great =) I also made a short video in case anyone else has questions on how to do it.

So- I've got some questions and maybe you lovely folks have answers. I also have a curious discussion topic.

1. What are your experiences with using Lush products in Hard and/or Soft water? I imagine they may function differently and while I know it can be drastically different per person.. what are your experiences?

I live in an area with very soft water so I've had a pretty awesome time with Godiva and Karma Koomba but I'm wondering which of my Lush products I may have to ditch/switch when I'm in London this summer, where they have very hard water, from what I hear.

2. I'm looking at Big shampoo and Seanik but after seeing the below post about Big.. I'm unsure. I have dark brown hair that is dyed black. Is Seanik just as harsh on dyed hair as Big? It doesn't have any lemon juice so I'm being hopeful.

3. Has anybody tried the new color supplements? I'm super stoked about those and would love to hear some experiences?

4. Yaay! Lush UK has a palm free soap base now! But wait.. are any of the soaps lathering or smelling different because of this?

5. And finally. ARGH! I love Porridge but using it with my bare hands is a hassle and so is using it in my soap pouch. Any tips? I'm considering melting it down maybe but it seems like a hassle.

6. In your experience, what lotion/moisturizer scent stays on you the longest after using it?

...whew. Sorry for the question dump. I figured it would be best to stick it all in one post, right? I would also like to note that Sexy Boy must easily be the fastest melting/slipperiest damn massage bar in existence. I want to like it but what a mess!

Oh and- Thanks in advance. <3

face masks and lotion...

I usually buy two fresh face masks at a time and alternate between them (I do them about 3 times a week) I was wondering what your favorite "combination" skin masks are and what others would be good for my skin type? I have pretty normal skin, not too oily or dry, except I get oily on the bridge of my nose, and the sides of my nose get small dry patches. I get pimples on my cheeks (like, the kind that are just little red bumps that you cant pop. Drives me crazy!) and my cheeks a bit redder than the rest of my face. I also have tiny blackheads on my nose and chin. When you don't examine my face up close though, it looks pretty clear. I use foundation to even out the redness and everything but my boyfriend and I are moving in together next week and he's going to be seeing me more often without makeup, so I want my natural skin to look good :p
I like to have one all-purpose face mask and then one that goes a little bit deeper and exfoliates..I've tried Crash Course, Oatifix, BB Seaweed, and Love Lettuce. I liked all of them except for Oatifix, it was a bitch to apply and was maybe a bit too moisturizing. I was thinking about try Catastrophe..thoughts?
Also, spring is coming up here soon and I was thinking about switching body lotions. I'm stuck on Sympathy for the Skin and would not be opposed to using it still, I don't find it to be THAT heavy. Does anybody else use SFTS when its not the dead of winter? Or is there a "lighter" lotion I could be using? Thanks!

I have a few questions for you lovely ladies, hopefully you can help! :)

1.) My skin has been super duper dry this winter. I've never had this happen to me, ever! I have a Starberry Fields Forever massage bar, I tried using it after my bath last night and the oil just doesn't absorb into my skin. I'm a HUGE fan of coconut oil, so I tried using that and the same thing. I was thinking about getting Coco Lotion. Has anyone used it, do you find it mositurizing? Anyone have any recs for a soap thats moisturizing. Although I tend to be a bodywash kinda girl.

2.) While we're sorta on the subject of soap. Can anyone recommend something good for body acne? I've found that I have alot of blemishes on my arms lately.

3.) What's everyones favorite mositurizer and why? And your favorite fresh face mask?

Thanks :)

Another skincare advice post........

*So I've been using Lush haircare and bath/shower products, and I thought I'd start a Lush skincare routine, or at least ask for samples of some stuff next time I go in. Basically I just need a cleanser and a moisturizer. I've actually got pretty decent skin, I guess you'd consider it combination...but the only trouble spots are I get a little oily on my nose, but then I get a bit dry around my nose in the winter. I also have those teeny weeny blackheads on my nose and chin, they are only visible upclose. I almost never get pimples, except for a couple when I'm going to start my period. Oh, and I like to have sunscreen in my moisturizer, I don't know if Lush makes any of those.
*Also looking for a body lotion for the winter...my arms and legs tend to get kind of itchy. I was thinking either Dream Cream or Coco. I've heard Dream Cream is good for dry skin, and I love the smell, but I like to wear perfume so maybe Coco would be better since it's unscented.
*My legs also get REALLY itchy after I shave, I don't know if it's my shaving cream or what..maybe I could try out a Lush shaving cream too if anyone could recommend one.
*I just started using the Fresh Face Masks, I tried the Crash Course in Skincare and absolutely LOVED it. Made my face super soft. I'd like to try other ones too...just something to make me glowy and soft.

So basically, I would like any suggestions for a cleanser, moisturizer, body lotion, shaving cream, and face masks. :p Thanks!

Has anyone here used Potion and/or Ginger Lotion? What did you think? What skin types/conditions are they better for?

Mods: There are no specific tags for Potion or Ginger Lotion... and I keep getting an error that says I'm not allowed to add tags to entries in this journal. I really don't know why. I didn't disobey willfully! I promise!
