independence suits me just fine

I felt so very grown up today.

well... not more grown up than just very independent. It may sound silly, but today, I actually felt like a Senior. I just realised that. Pushing freshmen around in the halls isn't the way to go about feeling like I've been in hell for three years and have finally reached the last one.

Anyway, I feel this way because today Richard gave me a ride to the post office. I sent off the money for Tonks' two months, and I wanted to do it today, because I remembered that Thursday, jazz band has a gig. So anyway, Richard was really nice about giving me a ride there even though he'd already promised Pat to take him to Tower. I had no choice but to tag along.

^_____^

Felt so very independent with the knowledge that I was riding in a car, driven by someone who couldn't possibly be more than a year older than me, and my mother had no idea. There was no, "Oh Ma, I need to go to the post office, Richard's taking me," phone call. It was just, hop in next to Chris and freeze to death because both windows were rolled down and it was freezing outside to begin with!

Tower was fun. They're having a sale of sorts, I think, and I had $10 in my pocket, so I decided to buy Tragic Kingdom because I haven't had it in ages since Bry let me borrow it, I burnt it, and then our old computer died and took my music files with it. Ahhh so many lovely lovely things I want, like the Coldplay dvd/cd set... and Finding Nemo... We found Mabel! She'd just bought her Thrice tickets, so she hung around with us while we waited for Pat to get his money back for a present someone gave him. We gave her a ride back to school, too. Fun fun.

Little things like that make my day. They may seem very stupid to other people, but oh well.

Oh gosh... now I have to save up again to get my own account six months of paid time and a sea of icons.

Ahhh... help my solo! Sometimes I play it just fine, and other times it sounds like crap, but it's never good.... I'm never really happy with how it sounds. But I suppose tomorrow's the last and only day I'll have to play it. I shouldn't fret.

Oh yes, one last note to Mr. Fuckwit, my horrible peer editor:

*ahem*

I got an A, and you got a D, probably. C at best.

True

I cry over nearly anything... in books and movies, I mean, but still, if your music can make me cry, if your songs, even one, is enough to drive me to tears... then I love you.

I love you, cursive.

Thank you.

( Screw Beowulf. I'm writing an essay on my name for Elaine!Collapse )

The White Stripes were awesome! Honestly... they rocked. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs rocked my socks, too! It would have been a very, very good show had it not been FOR THE LAME ASSHOLES IN THE AUDIENCE!!

>___<

Worst

Audience

Ever.

*sigh*

I should really write my Beowulf essay... goddamit.

*Food Festival tomorrow.

Support the French Club!!

Support Band!!

I was mentioned in Diana and Elaine's respective journals. I like that feeling, of seeing my name mentioned in a friend's journal. Makes me feel all important and whatnot.

*Homecoming is Friday... meep!

*My birthday is this Saturday. I shall be spending a great part of it marching.

Un. cool.

Mambo...?

hmm.

I had a really nifty entry planned... but I forgot most of it.

Highlights:

*In the set for Maria/Cool, there's this part where we all move into this oval shape. In order to reach my spot, I have to pass in front of Pat, and since I'm walking backwards, there's a good chance I could crash into him and his tuba. The first time I walked by him, he talked into his tuba: "No, Mitzi, No!" and he sounded so much like Mrs. Puff from Spongebob that I just burst out laughing. Second time, he yelled my name into the Tuba again and it took me by surprise so I screamed and squeaked, much to the amusement of the band.

*The moon was absolutely gorgeous last night when it was rising during the football game... all lovely and dark and orange. ^_^

*Friend Eric went to the game!! Awesomeness!! I miss having him as my locker buddy in Band. :(

*Friday at lunch, I sat with the band geeks again and Chris played Johnny B. Goode again and I sang. All of it, this time. :D

*That horribly overracted version of Oedipus Rex was scary as hell. Well, the masks were anyway.

*Must buy iPod.

Ooh, my birthday shall be in a fortnight. I look forward to it. :D

Oh yeah! Snogs to Mabel for getting the yearbook a decent theme! you rock. ^__^

I can't write under these... er... conditions.

Questa notte nessun dorma in Pekino!

Turandot finally arrived.

^_______^

Oh yes, that and, lunch was tres fun today. I sat with the band geeks instead because Mabel had to go to Dultz's room, and I didn't wanna barge in on the rest of the people who usually sit with her. ( I already felt like I was barging in anyway, so I suppose it was for the best) Anywho, Adrian brought his guitar in and Richard and Chris were taking turns playing. (Chris, by the by, is a new freshman percussionist.) He rocks on the guitar. Honestly. The three of them rock, and we have fun talking about Brightwood and Mrs. Ito and how uncool of her it was to never have played her guitar for us. I digress. Chris started playing "Johnny B. Goode," and me, being knowing part of the lyrics, sang along. I've now learnt the whole song and I'm ready to do it again tomorrow. :D much, much fun.

Turandot!!

*squeals*

mind the flats

My legs feel much better today. I got to the band room early enough so that I actually had to run the laps with everyone else, but I just walked. Honestly, I'm horribly out of shape, and I don't plan to kill myself running.

We actually got to play on the field while we were moving... egad. Moving from the second set to the third set is hell, because I have to rely on Kevin and Patrick to line up correctly, but then Pat ends up next to Lam and John somehow. blargh.

At least we have awesome music. yes yes. Mambo from West Side Story is quite an awesome song. It's pretty hard for me to actually march to it, because I want to dance down the field. hehee, I want to actually Mambo my way to the next set. :D

Lunch was awesome. I entertained the people in the band room with Grad Nite tales and Garrett and I had a great conversation on the stupidity of Cho Chang. He kept insisting it was "sappyness," and I kept yelling: "STUPIDITY!"

bwhaha!

We've also come to the conclusion, much against my will really, that my darling Remus will die at the hand of Wormtail. ::sniff:: as long as he doesnt die protecting goddam Harry... baaah!

So sorry for Mabel... I am so not going to finish Hamlet by Saturday. On Saturday, yes, but not before. I hope I can still go to the Dvorak thing tonight. :D

I hate the sun.

piccolo iddio, amore, amore mio

Yes.

That is from Madama Butterfly.

Yes.

That is part of her last song, the one she sings before she dies.

I'm not sure why, but I've developed a very morbid fascination with hearing her, not fall in love all over again, as Weezer suggested, but with listening to Cio-Cio San die all over again.

Is that healthy?

Nah. I think its the music. Honestly, its just so beautiful... and she sounds so different. No longer the fluttery little girl who threw out her little pot of rouge.

I took part in a very strange morning ritual today.

Yesterday, as we were coming back from the vicinity of my grandmother's house, having done heaven knows what, we stopped by Blockbuster and found out that they were selling pre-viewed DVDs cheap. Dad didn't want to buy One Hour Photo, which is what I wanted, and instead he just abandoned it on some shelf. So instead, I stuck him with The Hours. Not sure why. I do know it was one of those impulsive buys that I don't think about. The purchases that I make while listening to the little voice in my head that says: "GO!"

So today, for some reason that I still haven't figured out, I woke up at 6:00 again. I have no idea how I can manage, now, in the summer, with no obligations and no alarm clock, to wake up at 5:30-6:00 in the morning, having slept at 12:00 or 1, but during the school year, I can't wake up at 6:30, even if I've gone to sleep at 10.

Anyway, I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. So I decided to plug in my laptop and watch The Hours. Yep. I watched that movie before eating breakfast, before even washing my face. I saw all of it, and it finished, I think, just as my mom was eating breakfast. So now, I've had that movie to ponder all day, and I think it best my parents never see it. Their main gripe will be that there were women kissing. Who cares that it was a really good movie? Women kissed each other. Therefore, it is the devil's movie. Gaaaaah.

Almost through with Hamlet.

I love how Polonius talks.

Yesterday's surprise was that as we were talking over lunch, my mom asked me if I wanted to go to school in London. (Yes, there's this one particular school that I have to go to because it's in London, and it has replaced St. John's.) So of course, I answered yes. Then I asked if they'd actually let me go if I were accepted. And they said yes. I was quite surprised. I told my mom I wanted to go to school in New York and she frowned at me. Now, I tell her I want to go to London and she says she'd let me go. Even my dad said he'd let me go, and he thought New York was too far too.

::grin::

London.

Registration tomorrow. I should go to sleep since they told me to report at 8. Then again, they said I could show up whenever I felt like it, so long as it was before noon. asses.

Band today. We rocked! :D I miss band so much. I need to take it as my 4th period. I need it to relax.

To switch over to tenor, or to not switch over to tenor. hmm... dunno...
