Odin loves me

Baby its COLD outside

Heres hoping that everyone is warm and cozy!! Especially all my friends I left in the High Desert here in California!! They have snow and lots of it - from what I hear!!

I am sitting here ~ wet and warm, listening to the windchimes and running the gas stove because I can't figure out how to turn on the wall furnace (I have been using wood heat for over 20 years now ~ until I moved)

I have one present wrapped, 3 boxes to ship, and lots more wrapping to go!

Our new Kindred (CJ and I) The 9 Worlds Kindred, will be holding our opening to the Yule season on Sunday, unless the weather continues to be insane which means we will miss the Heimdalls Lur Yule celebration and hold ours on Friday night or Saturday.

This new house poses some real adjustments, less space so there are still things in boxes, jerry rigged electrical so I can't run a space heater and the microwave or POOF ~ no power! No 210 so the dryer is out of the question, clothes are hanging in all the doorways as I write this! But all in all, it is cosy and welcoming.

I have been playing with my newest craft ~ needle felting! What FUN! I have sculpting a little grey kitten and made both Vester and CJ a customized felted stocking. I will be making a sheepskin lined house for Pearl, the ferret, next =) and will decorate it too! haha ~ she may not notice, but I can't help it, anything that can be felted ~ will be felted for a while!

I finished the Yule Incense ~ by far my best batch yet ~ and I made over a gallon this time so there should be plenty for all.

Hauk, CJ and I went to Tina and Ed's for Yule last weekend, we just missed the snow hitting there in Hesperia by a day (whew!) We had a wonderful time and I am voting for Tina as the #1 Asatru Cook!! They had a wonderful place filled with all my favorite things ~ Books (LOTS OF BOOKS) nic naks (beautiful things!) rocks, crystals, and a pond to soothe the soul ~ filled with goldfish and Koi. What great folks!

I have emptied my main spinning wheel in preparation for Mother's Night, and will have all the others done by then in hopes that Mother Holle will bless our hearth for another year. I will probably go nuts having everything done for the 12 days ~ no spinning... no weaving... ARRRRGGH! But I am sure there will be lots of laundry and dishes to keep me out of trouble =P

Humm, maybe I can do some weaving on my lap loom and finish before the 20th.... Muuuuaaahhhaa!!

Spinning is my therapy

My newest craft...

This is great for me as I wash, card, and dye my own wool. I can weave a bag, create a design and felt it right onto the bag! Or, I can even do a type of tapestry that is all handmade felt with the design elements in needle felting!! Woot ~ cant wait!

Odin loves me

Here I go....

I have agreed to become a student of Rig Svenson
http://www.runewebvitki.com/about_me.html

I am so touched and honored! He has been put to the test and passed as one I can trust and his knowledge is undisputable. He is in England, but via Skype I believe we can do this until we can meet eventually.

I am hoping I can remain with the Rune Gild while I learn from him as I believe I have enough common sense to know how to take the good from what I am taught. I have met many folks from the Rune Gild that I respect and look forward to getting to know them better.

I also went to the Swap meet today with my Dad and for 20 dollars I left with 5-6 bags of craft supplies and goodies! I need more shelves in the craft room! (something new to add to the Honey-do list!)
Last week I created a really cool glow-in-the-dark Hallow's Eve page with a unique frame for CJ's girlfriend Jamie ~ we had a blast working on it! I hope she comes back to craft more soon!

I ALSO finished the head of my handmade oak Hammer. I will rub it down with bees wax tonight and begin carving the Runes and symbols on it tomorrow.
AND I warped my inkle loom with a pattern I designed and am nearly done with the band to be used with my Horn!

WOW I am really getting things done!!

I got my copy of True Hearth yesterday and added it to my books to finish (almost done as I write this)

FlyLady

OK, so there are still alot of things in boxes from the move... BUT, dishes still get dirty and clothes need to by hung out (that's right HUNG! My dryer won't fit in the laundry area ~ bummer!)

Thanks to http://dragonhearth.livejournal.com/ (I gotta learn how to make hyperlinks in LJ)
I have discovered Flylady!

There are Amazing tools to get organized, including mentors and lists...
One of my favorite little quotes is ~ "You can do ANYTHING for 15 minutes" This is wonderful as a motivating thought for me due to my disabilities. Far too often I used to sit and look around at that huge 3 story house and think - why even try, I can never do it all!
In the new house darling hubby has put his foot down and stated there will be no more clutter! Well, I lifted said foot and while sweeping under it, I said ~ OK, but this means YOU have to pick up after YOUR clutter! Humm, now that was a bit harder than telling someone else to straighten up = literally and figuratively!

No more piles of socks and junk on his end table (well, he is not broke of the table thing yet)Tools belong in the GARAGE - no more electric drills in the living room...

Now, this also means I (that's right, ME) can no longer buy all the pretty things I see (besides the fact that I am broke!) and I have to remember that everything I bring home from a junk store or yard sale means more to wash and dust (EEEK@!) No more papers and books in piles either!

Now that all the kids are gone, it is a bit easier to keep things where they belong, but it also means that I need to do it all myself and there is no one else to blame when I can't find anything! (OK, I DO blame the dog on occasion - she DOES hide stuff...really!)
It still took a 3 bedroom house with an extra add-on to hold all the things I brought from the old house. And I got rid of ALOT!

I have our spare room that doubles as a Altar room and space for the desktop and most of my spiritual library. As I view my herb craft and essential oils as spiritual, these are also in here (now to figure out an inexpesive way to organize and set these up!)The closets are so small that all my clothes have to go in this room!

There is the Fiber arts room ~ with my floor loom (one of them) my fiber, carder, small looms (8), lap looms and spinning wheels. There are alot of extras that go with this craft - tools and books galore! The closet has the equivilant of a dozen sheep in the organizers I set up.

And the add-on off the master bedroom, is storage and crafts. When I say "crafts" I mean everything your imagination can dream up! Rock tumbling, jewlery making, scrapbooking, carving, wood burning, soap making, candle crafting, sewing, and drawing (and I am sure I have forgotten something!)

At least I am keeping all the crafts boxed so I can take one out at a time rather than having dozens of unfinished projects all over the house!

This is an example of FlyLady's Philosophy...

FlyLady's Eleven Commandments

Keep your sink clean and shiny.

Get dressed every morning, even if you don’t feel like it. Don’t forget your lace-up shoes. (this REALLY makes a difference!)

Do your morning and before bedtime routine everyday.

Don’t allow yourself to be sidetracked by the computer.

Pick up after yourself. If you get it out, put it away.

Don’t try to do two projects at once. ONE JOB AT A TIME.

Don’t pull out more than you can put back in one hour.

Do something for yourself everyday, maybe every morning and night.

Work as fast as you can to get the job done. This will give you more time to play later.

Smile even when you don’t feel like it. It is contagious. Make your mind up to be happy and you will be.

Don’t forget to laugh everyday. Pamper yourself, you deserve it.
