
GENIEedge [Novi]
GENIEedge is a planned commercial Earth observation and edge computing constellation developed by NOVI. The 6U CubeSats are intended to establish an open-access orbital platform that combines remote sensing with onboard data processing.
Rather than offering only satellite imagery, GENIEedge is designed as shared space infrastructure. Customers, research institutions, commercial partners, and software developers can task the satellites for fractional use of their sensing and computing resources, providing direct access to a distributed multi-sensor network without the need to develop or operate their own spacecraft.
Each satellite carries a common payload suite comprising a visible imaging camera with a ground sampling distance of approximately 3 m, a hyperspectral and near-infrared imager providing 96 spectral bands at 35 m resolution, and a software-defined radio receiver covering frequencies from 47 MHz to 6.0 GHz. The onboard edge computing capability enables data processing in orbit, reducing latency and allowing selected results to be transmitted instead of complete raw datasets.
The initial satellites will serve as the first operational elements of NOVI's planned GENIEedge constellation, which aims to provide flexible, taskable geospatial intelligence services through a shared commercial space platform.
