VanZyl 2 [Muon Space]
The VanZyl 2 satellite is the second satellite in Hydrosat's planned constellation to produce daily, high-res, global thermal infra-red coverage.
VanZyl-2 will deliver four times the imaging capacity of its predecessorcovering up to 8 million kmē/day compared to VanZyl 1s 2 million. Both spacecraft are equipped with thermal imagers and multispectral cameras, designed to meet many of the same requirements as NASAs Landsat missions. Hydrosat positions its growing constellation as a commercial complement to Landsat Next.
The satellite is built by Muon Space with the payloads provided by ABB and Simera Sense.
Hydrosat uses its data for AI-powered analysis, supporting applications like vegetation monitoring, irrigation optimization, drought detection, wildfire risk assessment, and urban heat tracking. Key product: IrriWatch. Other use cases span civil and defense domains, such as maritime awareness, landing zone prep, and infrastructure monitoring.
