Ja has a bad cold, and is just barely acknowledging it, other than to sleep a lot on Saturday, and ask (ask!) if it would be okay to stop at a drugstore on the way to a meeting Sunday. Yesterday I got very wrapped up in polishing the antique furniture, and forgot to do anything much for him, but I think I will later.
We met again with the Medievalist. It's looking pretty good, although she talks so fast that I have trouble keeping track of her questions.
The cat seems to be healed. He doesn't limp, there's no apparent heat or inflammation. He's adjusting to the new bedroom furniture, gradually-- he figured out how to get under the covers of the new bed Saturday night. He's excited by all the new smells we're bringing into the house.
About the furniture... we've found a set of night stands at Bombay Company that should fit, and (as of today's sale price) will be considerably less expensive than the ones they are replacing. And Ja brought the first of the family antiques in from the garage last night. I spent about an hour and almost a half-cup of hand-mixed oils (in addition to the oil-soap wash and some commercial lemon oil) cleaning and polishing it. There's still more that can be done-- the wood was very thirsty, and there are little paint drips on it in various places. Also, the marble panel is in bad condition. I know even less about marble than about wood... need to look that up.
There was a box for celluloid collars, carefully labeled, in the top drawer. Flocked green velvet. I am not sure what it can be used for, but I wonder whether I can clean it up and use/display it....
I'm not even sure how old these things are. I had been thinking turn-of-the (20th) century, but they could be older, as they may have come from my great-grandparents through my grandmother... hmmm, need to do research. And take pictures, yes, probably.
The spacing issue is in IE 8; it looks fine in Firefox, in the section ending with "What does the word "Wicca" mean to you. I can post screen caps if you wish, but it's a likely that the CSS is…
