I told Browse I'd get him this... for those of you, if any, in countries which have caught up to the last century in measuring standards, I apologize. This recipe is fairly old-- probably over 40 years.
1 c sugar 3 T corn starch 1.5 c cold water 3 egg yolks slightly beaten 1 T margarine grated rind of 1 lemon 1/4 c lemon juice 1 baked 9-inch pie shell (you can make your own) 3 egg whites 1/3 c sugar (yes, more sugar...)
In 1 qt. saucepan mix 1 cup sugar and starch. Gradually stir in water until smooth. Stir in egg yolks. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil over medium heat and boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir in next three ingredients (I assume she means margarine, lemon rind, lemon juice.) Cool. Turn into pastry shell. In small bowl with mixer at high speed, beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually beat in 1/3 cup sugar. Continue beating until stiff peaks form. Spread some meringue around the edges of illing first, touching crust all around. Then fill in center. Bake in 350-degree oven 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool. Serves 6 to 8.
The spacing issue is in IE 8; it looks fine in Firefox, in the section ending with "What does the word "Wicca" mean to you. I can post screen caps if you wish, but it's a likely that the CSS is…
