But the weekend was great. Just what I needed, when I very much needed it.
Cold! Coldcold! So sales were good.
HE Elizabeth Rae can make apple brandy, bigod. She can make apple brandy that makes me forget that I have had not had lunch, not care, and remain jolly. Heh. She entered it for commentary. I would really like the recipe if she's willing to give it out. I mean, I'd have to hand it to someone else to make, but I know someone who might be helpful in that regard. :) Ohhhh, that was yummygood stuff.
Fun had. Conversations with whole crowds of folks who weren't ass haberdashers. Neat new folk. Judging of good entries and we were able to make amusing notes, knowing that the recipient would get the joke and grin. Glad to be back home to hug my girlchild.
Heh - but very, very little sleep. Very fun. But I'm very sleepy and hitting the very bed soon. Like here as soon as possible. The homeschooling group we visited last week has a V Day party tomorrow afternoon. I will be bringing a veggie tray and some cookies. I'm really tired. I think it would be very wise to buy said cookies and likely the veggie tray. Blech. More driving. I think after tomorrow I will be very glad to not be on the road. I think my butt's still vibrating.
May Tourney was nice and relaxing for me. I sold very little, but as I'd not had both time, money, and memory to restock some, I'm not terribly surprised. I didn't have a whole lot of stock out. Still, I made enough money to pay for the event, which was good.
I got to hang out, some, too. What with the feast being divided up amongst four people, they each required very little work on site. Mostly last-day cooking, which happened in an orderly manner and most of which went into the hot boxes to finish, and some rewarming. So, being set up near the kitchen, I got to talk to them some - especially Roz, whom I hadn't spoken with in a while. She's got a new house, too - and told me about one house she liked but didn't buy. And we talked about cooking. She just this year got a subscription to Cooks Illustrated, too.
( Sunday's child is, em, full of grace?Collapse )We also figured out how it is that Meg is managing to get only three inches of hot water when she draws a bath. She lets it run a good, long time, first, all the way over on hot, before she pulls the drain stopper in to place. Sneeeeaky - 'cause then she doesn't wash the front of her hair, which is fine by her, 'cause then she's got less chance of getting water/shampoo in her eyes.
The sneaky cleverness, it is there! In my six year old (weirdness - last night I dreamed she was seven, and pubescent. Many shudders.)
