B: "Meg, check your shoes. I think Rose just poured lemonade in them."Me: *rubbing Nemo's tummy* Nemo: *starts warning biting* Me: *moves hand toward B's crotch* B: "Are you trying to get him to bite my scrotum?" Me: "Maybe. Did the grin give it away?" B: "You'd grin if he bit my scrotum?" Me: "No!" B: "Maybe not my naked scrotum...." Me: "I would never laugh if the cat bit your naked scrotum, no." B: "Yeah, but what about my clothed scrotum.?" Me: *wicked grin, snickering*This weekend has been just lovely. Completely what the doctor called for. I feel sane again, which is nice. There has been cooking, which has helped, but I think the most helpful thing of all has been that we've had the house open alllllllllllllllll weekend. The weather has begun its somewhat ungainly slide into fall weather and I wholeheartedly approve. Saturday the high was, I kid you not, in the mid-upper 70sF. I grinned all day long. Yesterday was warmer and today warmer yet but the humidity's been much lower which makes it more tolerable. Dinner will be BLTs unto which I say wewt. There has been two kinds of gaming (B's main character on WoW hit 80 this AM). There was even a brunch date with just me and the hubby at IHOP.
Wonderful. I'll take it.
Fall? Hardly. We're not falling anywhere. I prefer to call cooler days after summer "the Forgiving Days." Feels like forgiveness after the minor hell of ovenlike humidity. Love.Rose is getting better in the vocab department but it's still obvious that she thinks that the effort to learn verbal communication is clearly something that happens to other people. Of course, since the grown-ups use words and all, she finds it really frustrating and instead chooses her default setting, which is Scream At Volume Setting Eleven. :/ However, she is generous with kisses, so there's that. We'll dance together.
She's now napping really well during the day. She's got herself, finally, something remarkably like a proper schedule which resembles the schedules of most other toddlers. That's really nice. It means that I can pretty much rely on a short period in the early afternoon to get things like eating and some light cleaning done, maybe a little WoW.
I've actually been playing a LOT of WoW, lately. I had a server move and now B and I are playing with J and J and it's fun, fun times. Delightful. Actually, I'm going to finish up on this entry and go sign in after the bacon's done in the oven (I prefer to cook bigger batches that way, and Meg wants some).I put my sweater aside for a while and have recently picked it back up. I've sewn down all the steeks, kitchenered the shoulders together and have knit about 2/3 of the first sleeve. In normal stockinette. Instead of the body's twisted stockinette. That will contrast a bit with the body but I'm okay with that. I finished the body in the needed twisted stockinette and that's good enough for me. Maybe my next sweater will be Bella Paquita - I really love the neckline.
Meg's bolero is currently on hold. I had an Addi Turbo in a size US8 in 24" but now I need to cast on extra stitches for the doublebreasted-looking front bit and I know if I try to crowd them on, my tension will go at least one entire stitch tighter. So I'm going to put it on a 32" after I'm finished with the sweater for me, which is currently using up my 8 tips on the interchangeable set.I've done some preliminary research for some stockings for Rose or Meg for submitting to Magna Faire - one of my knitting pals very generously has lent me her copy of Rutter for *mutter* now, and that's no bad start. I'm just... not going to drive to Chattanooga to see this other source. I just can't make myself right now.
Someone on the Sock Guild that started up after last year's Pennsic said that she had some research regarding such from the Mary Rose books (well, the knitted tubes, anyway) and expressed a willingness to share it with me. If need be and this weight doesn't work for reliably period stockings, then I'm looking into the children's mittens that were recreated and patterned in Piecework that lady_francesca and I spoke about earlier this year. I'll do a bit of research into those and possibly some dyeing, too. We'll see. That Jacob would make a beautiful red hen dyed, I think.
