Today one of my kids got expelled. For good. He can never return to CDI.
A few weeks back the secretary found some graffiti on the wall in one of the classrooms. It was a picture, drawn in pen, of the principal, or head, of the school with devil horns. I'm not sure what else was there, but apparently there were some very rude words about CDI or the principal; I don't really know.
Anyway. Today he came back from being absent with school tests and I was told to send him straight to the secretary. He never returned to class. Later on during break the head saw me and came over to talk to me. He told me that the boy had been expelled and could never return to CDI, and did I know why?
Part of me wants to blame myself, and the other part of me is trying to convince me that it's not my fault at all. It's not my job to babysit these kids and make sure they don't write on the walls, and for all I know it could have happened at work. But my main concern is the impression this has left. Even if I don't blame myself, I'm not so sure about the staff. I don't have any major commitment or anything, but I don't want to leave this place knowing that my boss thinks I didn't do a very good job. Maybe I'm just not cut out for this line of work... I don't know.
Anyway, as always, keep me in your prayers. Maybe God is trying to tell me something here. --
It's the rainy season in Korea, and it's absolutely miserable. The sky today was gray and dull, and it was so dark I had to have my lights on at 11 AM. It rained all day, a thick drizzle, and the air was so humid that your hair would curl just from going outside. Horrible, horrible day. The mosquitoes are up and about as well; I've gotten so many bites I can't stand it. Tomorrow I'm planning on buying a bug tool that emits a sound that keeps the 'skeeters away. I asked my friend who told me it was vital when he lived in Seoul. Hopefully that will work.
I've even been sleeping on the floor without blankets to ward off the heat and humidity. It feels a lot better way. I don't sleep too well, though I've never really slept well in Korea, I've found. --
So, soccer. I've looked up the term soccer and its origins since the British really seem to get on us about calling it soccer instead of football. I found out that the term soccer comes from the UK originally. Figures, right?
Anyway, watched the Brazilians versus the Dutch today at dinner with the guys. Both teams were playing a bit dirty, but Netherlands won, which made me sorta happy. Korea, America, and Japan are all out, so I've got to cheer for someone, right? And I have more ties to the Netherlands than Brazil. Score was 2-1. I was honestly surprised that the Netherlands won since Brazil is super good, though apparently the Netherlands is really good too. (Brazil is second, Netherlands is third). So congrats, Netherlands! I'm looking forward to seeing who will win the cup.
And all this from someone who really doesn't care about sports XD
