Am I not allowed to make future posts anymore?
I'm in law school now! I should be reading or asleep, but my procrastination and insomniac tendencies haven't changed, at least.
Bringing this guy back for at least one reason-- documenting my year in consumed media. It's cool to come here and look back at my 2011, and I wish I would've done it consistently for my 2012.
Good Lord, I just looked at my icons. THERE'S a throwback to Darienne's fandoms circa 2010 or earlier. I haven't used it consistently since spring of 2010. And regularly since 2009. I just found the post where I lost my shit over Rizzoli & Isles before it actually came out. JESUS.
This whole account is just a microcosm of teenaged me. Wow.
Anyway. This is to shake a few cobwebs off.
And remind me to never ship my tweets to a blog again.

Cataloging my year in books, in movies, in television, in anything I can think of, including my own artsy projects. Some of this might be a reminder/to-do list, but it's mostly what I've done. To be continuously updated.

Quick and dirty update on my life:
Mom was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer in February of 2010. We spent Superbowl Sunday in the hospital post a surgery to prevent her colon from being blocked in the future. She's since been on chemo, and is doing well. Prayers and well wishes are gladly appreciated.
I had a girlfriend from March until December 1st of last year. My first relationship, not my last, just officially ended yesterday for good. It hurts, it sucks, it's awkward. It'll eventually get better. (This is why I have a therapist. Okay, Mom is the reason I have a therapist. Dealing with this is just a side effect I enjoy.)
I ran my half marathon! It was awful hard, and I made four major mistakes: 1) I didn't have the music I wanted ready in a playlist. It's amazing how much difference the right music can make on run. 2) I ate food I hadn't pre-tested during training the night before (jambalaya and gumbo, for the record), and had a subsequently upset stomach the next morning. It wasn't too excessive, but enough to be a noticeable discomfort/distraction during the race. 3) I tapered off my training leading up to the race too sharply and too early. 4) I didn't take the weather forecast into account. With my old knee injury, swings from hot to cold (and vice versa) overnight leave me with some swelling and stiffness/achyness. It was comfortably cool for running, but my knee started acting up about 3 miles in, and it was hard going after that. Still, all things considered, I finished! 2:55:02, final time. And it was my first race! So, not too shabby.
I visited NYC and my bestie Kiah in NJ and saw Billy Elliot and American Idiot and met new people and had a fantastic week in a winter wonderland. Also, staked out Columbia/NYU neighborhoods in relation to the theater district and where my friends might be located in the future.
Also, got my wisdom teeth out! I'm mostly recovered now, but it was a torturous week and a half of not eating what I wanted and having to adjust NY plans accordingly.
Had a good break at home, a fantastic Christmas with my family (although sometimes I feel like it whizzed by. I wasn't in the Christmas spirit early enough, I guess), and spent my New Year with Liz and Ann and Katie, a habit that I'm not mad is forming. I've got a friend recovering from a serious ski accident from Christmas Day, but she's beastly and already doing super awesome in her recovery. More prayers and well wishes are totally appreciated, yet again.
I start spring semester of my junior year at LSU tomorrow, as an official English Major with Minors in Theater and Political Science. I'm taking 4 theater classes, an upper-level workshop English class and intro to Logic, so I can ace the LSAT. Oh, yeah, that's why I was mentioning Columbia and NYU-- I'm going to law school, and I want to go east. If not in NYC, a stone's throw from it; so D.C. and northward.
I think that's just about everything that has happened to me since my last update/previous updates that never happened, and nothing more than I would put on my Facebook, so this entry is public. I'm thinking of making this journal friends only, so if you're an anonymous lurking reader who used to enjoy my entries, post a comment here and let me know if you'd still enjoy reading my sporadic updates on what I call my life.
Can't say as if I'll be updating all the time, but I think I'll use my as yet-unnamed New Year's Resolutions to:
1. Write at least once a week, with rewards if I write every day.
2. Blog at least once a week, with a picture to go along with it. A project 52, of sorts. (50, if I don't retro-blog the first two weeks of January.)
3. Keep losing weight, as I've slowly been doing for about a year now.
Boom. Nutshell.

So, I was smart, and missed a couple runs this week. Ran out of time one day, didn't get up early another, piled up to four days without running coming up against my longest run yet. It was not pretty, or fast, or probably classified as a run at all, in truth. But I did it, though I didn't want to. And it has convinced me not to let up on my maintaining 3-4 mile runs during the week. (Because oh, sweet Jesus am I going to be feeling this tomorrow.)
It's like my teeth. Which, I realize I haven't mentioned. My wisdom teeth are coming in (impacted, with like two weeks time until I leave for school, essentially. Yeah, just as fun as it sounds), and I was a year and a half overdue for a cleaning. Let's just say it was bloody painful (pun totally intended). And it hurt like a biiiiitch. My poor gums were suffering PTSD for a couple days. Anyway, the point is that I'm not going to let my maintenance on them slide anymore (for reasons of pain and it being a genetic probability for me to be prone toward gum disease), and I'll be a regular-flossing, every-six-months-attending, soft-bristle-toothbrush-using fool to avoid a repeat of that performance.
The other thing I should keep up so diligently from here on out is my computer maintenance. Poor laptop has practically no space left on him, I abuse him so. Finally got an external hard drive, and with Liz's help, backed up all my videos, music, pictures and whatnot. As soon as I test it out on the desktop (and get my vids/pictures/music from there as well), I'll delete what I've got resting on here and hopefully free up space so he can run faster.
But, I'm meeting my aunts for lunch

I've been feeling sore-ish and kinda tight the past few days. Not necessarily in a horribly bad way; it reminds me of the days when I was playing soccer almost every day of the week. Just kinda like... I've been exerting myself well, I suppose. Still not feeling perfectly fit, though, although I suppose after just one month I shouldn't expect too much.
I blame my bad time on a combination of bleeding for the past few days [see tag below] and how really fucking humid it was after it rained and stormed off and on all day before I got outside. Ran my neighborhood loop, feeling just okay. Noticed that my left leg was tighter/almost hurting a bit and tried to even it out. I'm not sure if I was overcompensating for something in my right leg, or if it was just the funny gait I've affected since my thighs met and decide to chafe now and then. I can't wait until it's cold and I'm running in pants again, it makes things very simple, if frictional. (Yes, that's a word.)
In Other News, I've now watched The Pandorica Opens of Doctor Who and the pilot of Covert Affairs and a second episode of Rizzoli & Isles. I loved all three. The first, I'll only say -- I KNEW that some form of that would be in the Pandorica, I fucking KNEW IT. The second-- cute, and quite actiony, although god damn it does it always have to be some guy? Sigh. And the third-- oh, I love it so. I don't care if it's bad or good, I'll enjoy it either way. "What? This is an optimal batting stance." "You're ruining a national pastime." Maura, Jane, never change.

>> Tomorrow's Run: Off
So, in case you didn't get the point, my first six mile run was thwarted by a fucking thunderstorm. I almost made it back home in time not to get rained on, missed it by about ten blocks and five minutes. My ridiculously terrible time can be attributed to the downpour, being dehydrated because I slept most of the day and didn't have much water, and starting my period on Friday (at work, in a bathing suit, no less) for the first time in about four months. My body has A) finally gotten over its stress B) forgotten how to deal with it and C) remembered how much it likes to fuck with me.
My knee was giving me trouble on Friday for no reason, and I'm feeling sore now, despite barely running a third of my needed distance. I'm tempted to do a three mile run tomorrow to make up for the lack, although Sunday should be a day off. :frown: Not sure what to do. Try for the full six tomorrow? Only run three? Follow the schedule to a 'T' and take the off day as it should be? WHAT DO I DOOOOO--
Anyway, ended up watching 2012 with mom for the first time instead, and eating a lot of crap food for 'dinner,' up to and including a bagel, Easy Mac, V8 Fusion and Pink Lemonade Which leaves me feeling empty and hungry now at almost four in the morning. (Falling asleep on the couch was such a great idea, I know.)
Oh, I forgot to say yesterday: I finally got to see Wicked on stage! It was brilliant! Went with Liz for her birthday (which is coming up next week shitIstillneedtogetheragift >.>;) and managed to navigate Downtown with ease. Wore my glasses for the first time and I did see a difference, but I also got to assuage my worries that I needed them a lot. I'll be fine with or without them, but it is nice to know they're there now.
Elphaba was fantastic (and hot), Fiyero was WAY HOT (and the understudy! which made us wonder who the "real" Fiyero was), like, think if James Marsden and John Barrowman had a love-child, because he totally looked like Marsden in profile and had a Barrowman-esque smile and swagger. It was just so much fun to finally see it. I had to mouth the words to the songs so I wouldn't start singing them, and Liz and I were positively giddy the whole time. We held hands during "For Good" because it's our official best friends song (SHUT UP OKAY) and had our binoculars out like the whole show. We were in the uppermost gallery, because we're poor college students, but we were nigh on dead center and it worked out anyway.
As for Glinda, I was mostly 'meh' about her (in the, omg this whole show is AWESOME kind of way/I unabashedly am biased towared KCheno/Megan Hilty is up there too because I have a bootleg version that I watched) up until "Thank Goodness." She sang the line "bridges you didn't know you crossed until you've crossed" and sold me on the note as it built. It just had so. much. emotion. I teared up. That, and she did a flop back onto the bed during Popular that was SO HILARIOUSLY exhausted/exasperated with Elphaba (at what I can't remember for the life of me) that I loved. AND she had fantastic shoes.
In short, I fucking loved it, like I knew I would.
I'm going to go eat something made of chocolate now, and be mad at myself later/tomorrow (but not enough to restrain myself from doing this again in the future). Ta.

Ran at Memorial Park again like Monday. Holy Jesus it was hot today. And it wasn't even 11:00am. Decided to drive out and get my run done early after having to go to a super early work meeting at the J. Managed to jog for almost a full 20 minutes in the first half of the run. Note to self: yogurt doesn't sit well with me on a run. Had that and a donut about an hour before the run for breakfast at the pool, and it didn't upset me all that much, but enough for me to notice.
