"this is the sound of settling"

I've got a hunger twisting my stomach into knots

Death Cab For Cutie FTMFW.

Keane too.

Also, Frou Frou.

AND THE POSTAL SERVICE. I love hearing the original version of Such Great Heights when I know all the notes so well from The Section Quartet's cover of it. Makes me absurdly happy. :D *whistles along*

It is also absurd how tired I am despite my massive amounts of sleep. Granted they're in no particular order, and I think my body wouldn't know a circadian rhythm if it punched it in the mouth, but still.

I've been feeling artistic lately. I think it stems from seeing lots of great opportunities for pictures and having no camera with which to take them. *pout* Also because I'm sort of afraid to jump back into KoE for whatever reason (probably because it'd absorb me entirely and I'd neglect all else). But I've been drawing recently, something I haven't done in a long time. And it turns out I don't suck all that bad.

I mean, my perspective is skewed, and I still can't put a nose on a face to save my life, but somehow, it's improved. I think my doodling is finally doing me good.

In fandom related news: Law & Order: UK looks good. I like it. It was kinda boring because, hey, I've seen the story before-- but the investigating detectives are silly and smart (and one of them, to borrow a Britishism, is positively dishy) and the lawyers are snazzy and Freema and Bill Paterson, how can you go wrong. I like seeing Freema on my screen again. It's nice. But I think I might fall for the head lawyer guy, Ben Daniels. I just realized he reminds me of Daniel Craig, but thinner and more smiley. :D Lookit.

James Steel. Not the most original name, but I like it enough. I'm excited. I've got far too many fandoms, and there are plenty more calling my name begging for attention, but I love that there is such great TV available right now.

But I must tear myself away, for there is reading to be done for tomorrow's classes. It's back to the daily grind, and dear God I am not looking foward to it. March is going to suck. (I know saying it doesn't help, but I can't seem to stop.) LOL HEART OF DARKNESS FOR FICTION. I'm going to kill this response paper. oh shit  that just reminded me I've got one for Madame Bovary due next Monday. Bollocks. Well, at least I didn't have any online French to do this week that I forgot about.

AND WHY CAN'T I STOP YAWNING

My arts. Let me show you them.

[ music | Sting of the Zygons (Doctor Who Audio book) ]

So there's this Footsteps Project thing on the lifeonmartha comm and today was my contribution day for the audio book Sting of the Zygons.

Considering it's not an episode I can cap or make icons of or even butcher attempt any banners, I figured fic stemming from a novel was kinda dumb, so I drew something.

Soooo... I'm graduated. 'N stuff. Walked across the stage, hugged a lot of administrators and a lot of family and a lot of friends' family members and "Thank you"d a lot of "Congratulations!"

I feel almost... I dunno. Sometimes I think about it, and think I should be offended that people are so awed by the fact that I graduated from high school. I mean, the next step of expectation is that in four years they'll be giving me more money for graduating college; which is cool, but I guess I just take for granted this achievement. Doesn't feel like much-- it's always been a given, really. *shrug*

Speaking of money-- not to brag, but dayum. People shell out for a grad! Thank you, Mother, despite all your faults (like being allergic to my darling Bumfluff), I thank you for making me send out all those 'pointless' announcements to family members I hardly remember.

HAY YOU CHEAP PEOPLE. GIVE ME MONEY MEANINGFUL THINGS GIFTS. Y/Y?

:D

New layout!

[ mood | not so bad anymore ]
[ music | Refugee - Tribal Ink // A Beautiful Lie - 30 Seconds to Mars ]

I'm not sure I like it so much, but I like to match my colors of my default icon with my layout. Don't ask why. *shrug* Minor OCD showing through. (Warning, picspam below. Sorry to kill your flist, but they were too pretty to put behind a cut.)

So I'm totally denying the fact that I have to go back to school in two weeks, that Katie and Rachel are going to be leaving Houston in less than that, and that I'll be playing soccer pretty much nonstop from now until forever.

Instead I focus on the beach party I'm going to tomorrow night, getting my books before that this morning, the TPP meeting I'll be rushing back from Galveston for, and playing with my PS2, Gameboy Color and Tamagotchi (yes, I'm that much of a nerd) and watching as much TV as humanly possible. I should also cut back on work. It cuts into my relaxation time.

Side note: successfully managed to thwart mum's nagging and go the entire summer without A) cleaning my room properly, B) sorting through my college info, C) writing ANYTHING for said college stuff, D) get myself into any sort of proper sleeping/eating cycle.

On the upside, Dad's about ready to take me shopping for Chucks, a camera case, a bookcase, wall shelvings and paint for my room. So really, I'm quite excited. I've got money in the bank, I'm getting paid again Wednesday. I'll be seeing all my friends, soccer is going as well as can be expected, I'm resolved to losing weight. I've accomplished a few of the things I set out to do this summer, and all in all it's been great. I don't have any regrets except that I spent one too many days working at the JCC and coming home to crash instead of going out.

These precious moments of summer days and nights are going to be too few and too far gone by the time I realize I've already missed them. I've got soon-to-be-college-freshmen to bid adieu, overalls to make and a school to run. Well, at least from my helm as TPP co-editor. I've done a lot of things, I wish I could've done a lot more, but I don't really regret one single day of food, sun and lazing about, because what else is summer for?

More music, more clothes, more friends, more smiles and more laughs. Fewer tears, less drama, less writing done or books read than I'd've liked.

The summer of 2007 isn't over yet, but it's been good to me so far. I want to go out with a bang.

The pictures were taken by me. If you want to icon them, please just let me know/credit.

Geh.

[ mood |  stuffy and allergic to school - Yeah, that's right, I said it. ]
[ music | Under the Gun - The Killers - It wouldn't let me go all day. *been humming since she woke up*]

Layout tinkering/scrolling/deciding.

Geh. Not liking anything I see particularly, but I was tired of that stupid sidebar covering up the nifty quickbar at the top, and I was tired of the black too. *though I mildly regret changing now...*

*shrug*

No soccer anythings until Tuesday at the earliest, so I get to wake up at eight tomorrow morning just to watch Varsity play some crap* team and beat the crap* out of them and make my morning crap*-py.

Realized I haven't worked on Ersatz or any of my original projects/novels/books/things for quite some time. Also came to the realization that I've never really written Olivia/Elliot smut. Huh. *ponders*

OOH!

I drew House!

It wasn't initially going to be him, and then it turned into him, so I'll eventually get around to showing you the whole picture with him colored and uncolored and the wing and whatnots. (Yes, he has a wing in the full picture. First I *kinda* drew him, and then next to it I started to doodle and it turned into a wing, and then they were too close not to connect, so he has an angel wing. Don't worry, though, Liz/Meg/Ann inspired me to draw a new interpretation of this. Title: House in Heaven Thumbnail sketch: House, leaning against a cloud pillar, still with cane, leaning on his one good wing, legs crossed, fingers in pocket, smirk rightfully placed. His cane taps a metal rocket on the other side, obviously replacing a gimp wing. Scribbled at the top, 'Yeah, he's still a cripple, but... -at the bottom beneath him, assumed to be his own voice, "Upgrade." No, you can't see it now. (It's not even *done* yet.) Yes, of course I'll post it.) For now, you get this little bits. And be proud, it's the first time I've properly colored something in GIMP. *squee*

OMFGHA. I hate you, trees. Pollen is the bane of my existence, dammit. *can't breathe* Perchance it is dust, as Liz suggests, but then... I would hate my life even more than I already do. Because Texas IS dust, dammit.

*Assume you can hear the inflection of my voice emphasized on each repetition of the word crap, kthnxbai.

Fan-Thing- 100

So, I'll never officially get either fanart100 approved or fanfic100 approved for my pairings or fandoms, so I am going to unofficially use the charts to dabble in both. The fic will be SVU, general, seeing as I can't seem to stick to one pairing. >< Doh.

The art... I'm not sure yet. Both Abbs and Tessa were freaking about this little piece I drummed up in about five seconds, and were all like  OMFGHA PEN?! So... I just told them that's what two years of art will get you. :D

I'll try to upload it...

Oh, one sec.

Maybe the art will just be general? Anyway. I'll start posting fic and using the titles and whatnots soonish, 'cause I want to and I wish I was on it but I'm too impatient to wait. :D
