I used to have several anklets of assorted yarn and string wrapped around my left ankle (to the point where I had a significant tan line of where they usually sat on my foot). A couple were just random braided things I had made but a couple hold a special significance for me. I was just down to two until moments ago.

One of them is just simple purple yarn that was part of a final activity I did with my STRIPES group right before starting college at LSU, and it reminds me that I have and can make friends in as short amount of time as a week and make connections that were great, even if they didn't last or are currently sustained. That one remains.

The one that finally gave up tonight is a mere shadow of it's former self. I have a small knot of faded red, black, and shiny silver yarn, the rest of which has unraveled over the past (approximately) 21-22 months. I probably put it on in late March or early April of 2008, my senior year of high school, along with the rest of my varsity soccer team. It was supposed to signify good luck, and we put them on on the bus on the way to our first round of playoffs. We didn't make it past the second round (a curse the girl's teams at my high school suffers from), like every year before, but we came as close as we possibly god damn well could. A 1-1 game, no-score in two over times, and 5-3 on penalty kicks.

Anyway, it's not the significance of our season record that matters when it comes to this. It mattered because it was a reminder of my senior year, a little red white and black of my old school colors, a connection to girls I barely talk to anymore but were such a huge part of my life not even two years ago, and the last little hold I had on soccer (and a time when it was super important in my life).

It made it into the new decade, nearly two years past when I put it on -- and believe me, I take no mercy with my anklets. They are always on, through rain, wind, underneath socks, inside high top Converse, in and out of chlorinated pools, stuffed in boots, underneath shinguards and soccer socks, and thoroughly scrubbed in the shower like the rest of my body to be cleaned. For it to have lasted this long is kind of amazing (although I know it did because it got tangled in the one I mentioned above, and probably would have been gone long before this if not for that, and as I look at it, I kind of wish it had fallen off about a week ago. The reason I say this is because I have a small box that I'm trying to collect small things that remind me or are from high school, like my old TPP press pass and school ID. This is a little piece of my BHS history that I don't want to lose track of, because it's just a ratty little piece of yarn now, but it means a lot to me.

I didn't realize how much until I felt it dragging after my step, tugged it off, and let out a soft, sad, "Awww."

I think I am a fan of parallelism.

I missed class again this morning. I missed an entire week of Sociology. Oops. Oh well. It's a lecture class, he puts the outlines and big examples he uses on Moodle, so if I read the book that he co-wrote and go over the notes I do have, I'll probably be fine. I could also possibly email some random person (he made us exchange info with five people around us on the first day) and ask them for this week's notes. *shrug* Either way, I'll be fine. This is the class that I did really well on the test on and I did my cheat sheet about fifteen minutes before the exam.

I understood some more trig, but I'm still not confident about it. I'm going to have to start sitting myself down on weekends so that I can just sit and stare and possibly absorb my textbook. The concept eludes me just enough that I can kinda get through the homework and then fuck up the quizzes and tests. Though I discovered through the ingenious plan of reading my syllabus that I can make that 52 disappear by getting a better grade on my final. More incentive.

I still need to do econ homework. Thank god it wasn't due tonight at midnight. Kiah and Steph have both attempted it and neither one of them even passed it. So we're all taking notes and pooling our resources tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, Steph is going to have a hell of a hangover. Mmm. That should be fun.

I played soccer today! It was fun. Hard, but fun. Hard in terms of OMGICAN'TBREATHEWHATHEHELLAREMYLUNGSANDMUSCLESDOING. Something like that. I haven't played in six months, soooo. Yeah. Hurting. Hurts so good though, that soreness tomorrow is going to be fun. One of the girls was like, "so why isn't she on our team?" in reference to an intramural that they had. I'm a little upset, but I might possibly start jumping in when they need an extra, and I'm definitely going to play with them every Thursday. Kiah and Meg basically construction-worker-wolf-whistled me out of nowhere with "NICE BUTT." It was fun, Kiah says I 'headbutted' the shit out of the ball, and apparently my left foot is still intact. This only reaffirms my belief that losing about 25 pounds and getting back into good running/endurance shape is all I really need.  I was barking orders and directions like I was on the real field. I'm not sure if I'm embarrassed by that or not.

I had pancakes for dinner, too. I was haaaaaappy. Mood remarkably lightened in a 24 hour period. Though I was down earlier because I called home, told mom I was upset and asked her if I could come home. She said no, I said fine, don't talk about it then. She was going to go into a whole tirade and I just don't want to hear her shit about why I can't come see my ailing grandfather when I'm afraid he might not make it another month and she didn't have to do anything the last time. She hasn't come to Baton Rouge in three months, it's not like it was skin off her nose.

*sigh*

I know I'm looking for someone to be angry with. I shouldn't. Then I washed my hair and it looked cute down, like it always does, except for Kiah's convinced that I should twist it into dreadlocks and it almost did. I had to comb the hell out of my roots, and I broke a comb doing it. Yup. Straight up broke it. I'll take the shame, mate. Take the shaaame.

I have to get up for Theatre tomorrow morning, so I'm gonna roll bounce. Not much else happened today, kinda uneventful I guess. Nothing spectacular. OH.

I love dinosaur comics now, btw. Go get you some, and just click on the random-word-quote with the little dino head by it to get random ones, continuity isn't important. That cute little yelling-open-mouth-T-Rex-face could possibly be a reason I love them so much; it shows up like that as the icon in your bookmarks. :D (Apparently I'm on a dinosaur kick recently. Obsession with Dino Run, now comics centered around T-Rex and his BFF Dromiceiomious.)

I started all these senteces with "I," but managed to find a different second word each time following it. Again, strange OCD.

You know, I should be asleep.

Sooo... I relapsed into my nocturnal habits this morning. I stayed up downloading/watching The Black Donnellys until 7:00AM. I looked out my window and saw the sun shining off the lake. I then proceeded to shut the blinds, lock the door and crawl into bed until 3:00PM.

Unfortunately, today is Sunday, or was, since it's now after midnight that I'm typing (but it wasn't when I started!), and that means class tomorrow. Specifcally, my hellish Monday of four classes starting at the ever-so-wonderful 8:30, which really means 7:50 as a wake up time if I'm not going to eat breakfast.

I was coughing so much today I thought about how I could be a patient of the week on House. Kiah agreed. Then we trudged over to hell in a basket, AKA Math Lab. (A, people. MATH. I don't do hard drugs.) Dragged myself through two homework assignments and attempted a quiz, which I got a 60 on. Good thing I get 10 tries on those.

Theatre midterm coming up on Wednesday, same day as the Study Abroad Fair, which I totally want to do. London, here I come on LSU's dime. Speaking of travel, I need to nail down my plane plans with Rachel/my mom, since they've both okayed me going to Colorado for Spring Break. *squee*

Laundry day. (See you there. Underthings... tumbling.) Had to spend four dollars today, grr. I can usually get away with three, but my clothes weren't dry in an hour because my loads didn't start at the same time because some b-words don't know how to keep appropriate track of what time their washes are done. *eyeroll* I did meet a nice girl named Renee though. We chatted about a lot of stuff (she liked to talk) for a bit.

Weighed myself today, before that. I have not gained any weight, of which I am slightly proud. At least I won't be coming home with the Freshman 15, though I do want to get into better shape. Granted, I plan on playing soccer twice a week now, and swimming in the mornings because they open at 6AM. If I was up at 6:15, over there and swam for 30 minutes, I could be back here and showered by 7:30/7:45, in time enough to make/eat breakfast and get dressed for my 8:30 class.

This is almost purely theory, however.

Oh, and before I forget...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ukrazy !!! :D

I be workin' on some artz for ya, since you can't seem to give me none. (Christmas arts, birthday arts, graduation arts... hmmmmm.)

Kiah lent me her copy of Wanted.

It's amazing. Violent and a little bit predictable and the character development was slightly cliche, but he was refreshingly idiotic when it came to advancing the story/his knowledge, and there were some twists I did not expect. And Angelina Jolie got to sit around looking hot basically the entire movie. She definitely impressed me with her range of facial expressions/body language. I actually laughed more at her nonchalance than other times. Morgan Freeman is in it as well. That should seal the deal.

Sam invited me to the LSU Women's soccer game. EAT IT AUBURN, 2-1 in OVERTIME, BITCHES. Tigers (the correct ones) came from behind and tied it up, then when it had to go into over time... It took them twenty-six seconds to score.

Anyway. So then Sam decides it'd be a good time for a movie. Consider that it is around 9:00, 9:30. He crazy-drives us over the close movie theater, we get tickets and fly over to Izzo's, apparently an acceptable substitute for Freebirds. Sam is one of those people. You know who I'm talking about.

The type that thinks Chipotle is bad.

I almost dissolved our friendship then and there, but we worked through the pain.

Eagle Eye.

Many things to be said, of them, HOLY FUCK, HOLY SHIT, AND OMFG CAN THEY REALLY DO THAT?! Another fairly violent, action-packed, star-studded (YAY ROSARIO DAWSON, ILU) movie with twists-- though I should have expected it, I didn't. And then there was still a lot of movie to go. Shia LeBeouf could qualify as Bashir, for those of you who know what I'm talking about. I was watching him, and he could do it, I think. Perhaps there is hope for me yet. I mean, he could do a David Tennant thing with his hair, that would suffice for me.

Last but not least, the How To Guide on Surviving Without Oxygen, AKA, I Am Out Of Allergy Medicine And Seriously About To Die.

It involves a lot of breathing through the mouth, having a constant  tissue supply, the sneezes that hurt, and whining for your mommy a lot.

You're laughing, but I'm serious. If it wasn't so late, I would call my mom and tell her I want her to make it better. 'Cause I do.

Damn countdown to ... Thanksgiving. I... breathing hurts. OW. s;afajsdfwekrah;g

I can't even talk.

In other news, Annapolis is a good movie too. This side of trite, but cute in some places, and due to JAG I have a soft spot for anything military now. I wish we weren't at war, because I would seriously be learning on the government's dime in the NAVY or Air Force or something. Kinda wanna make dad proud, y'know? (Former Air Force man.) But I also don't wanna die! So... that's that.

Obviously my last-ditch cocktail of Ibprofuen and the singular Wal-Dryl I could find are influencing my brain. Slash words. I need sleep. Mmmmm, glorious sleep. No one had better wake me up tomorrow.

OH DID I MENTION I WAS SORE EVERYWHERE FROM SOCCER? YEAH, ASK LIZ, STAIRS HURT.

OMGYAY

New layout! Took a couple hours of tinkering, but I think I've got it right. Only thing that bothers me is the placement of the D (and the reversion of that letter to an 'A' when I go to my friend's page...) but I think I can get a friend to tinker more and lower that just below the quick bar thing at the top of the page.

Side note: VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER KICKED LAMAR'S ASS 2-0 TONIGHT.

Thank you, that is all.

P.S. Listening to my AIDSpod on shuffle is SO amusing. :D

P.P.S. Used. Rawr. Not going to be as long as I intended/first thought/wanted it to be.

Finally. Floating fic worked in a cut. :D

This was a good day.

1st period: No APUSH quiz in Amsco, not requiring me to suffer urges of desperately wanting to BURN Amsco...
2nd period: GOT AN 84 on my make-up test, which was a drastic improvement over my bombing-failing- previously in the week, and it's saving my B.
3rd period: My composition is FINALLY looking good.
4th period: WAY less hectic than usual, leisurely, quiet talk about 1984. (Which entrances me with skilled writing, but gets sadder by the paragraph nearing to the end now.)
5th period: Blowing things off. :DDD
6th period: French movie. Playing speed with Landon, playing Spades with Landon, Becca and Molly.
7th: Going home to sleep.

6:00: GAME TIME.

Anyway. Apologies for the extensive caps, don't have the time to utilize bold and italics and whatnot with the naggy mum threatening to unplug the comp.
