Garuda Linux is a rolling, desktop distribution based on the Arch Linux operating system. The project's latest release, Garuda Linux 240428, ships with a number of upgrades, the most immediately apparent being the new Plasma 6 desktop: "The main focus of this release is certainly the already mentioned Plasma 6 upgrade which already arrived in the Dr460nized edition. Meanwhile, Sway and Hyprland received some major improvements to their respective editions as well. Also, FireDragon was rebased to Floorp, meaning we now profit from its interesting feature set. Lastly, our build system for the garuda repository received major updates, and the pilot phase for Chaotic-AUR infra 4.0 is supposed to start soon. As KDE 6 was released in February, the Dr460nized edition underwent some minor changes to how we create our desktop layout. Multiple plasmoids needed to be ported to KDE 6, which also caused some of them to be replaced with updated forks (eg. the original Latte dock window - title, appmenu, buttons - are no longer maintained and were ported or forked by other people)." The Garuda Linux project has published a new release. The new version, 260819 "Temeraire", introduces a refined way to handle disk sectors and switches the default kernel to match CachyOS. "When creating new disk layouts, the installer will pick the biggest sector size a disk supports, and for people wanting to encrypt their disks with LUKS, the installer now uses LUKS2 with argon2 encryption and the same sector size as the disk. Previously, this would default to 512 on disks that supported the more optimal size of 4096. A new default kernel:laptop: Traditionally, Garuda Linux has shipped with linux-zen for many years, mostly due to being more stable than alternatives that were around during the time we chose it as our kernel of choice. This is going to change starting with this release - linux-garuda is the excellent Linux CachyOS many of us already used, ensured to always build against the NVIDIA drivers via DKMS before updating." Nico Jensch has announced the release of an updated version of Garuda Linux, a set of Arch-based desktop Linux distributions with a selection popular graphical desktops, including some lesser known ones, such as Sway or Hyprland. The new version, labelled as 250803, introduces Garuda Rani, a graphical settings manager: "We are excited to introduce Garuda Rani, a brand-new application designed to streamline and enhance your Garuda Linux experience. Rani, short for 'Reliable Assistant for Native Installations', is envisioned as the future of Garuda utilities, aiming to eventually replace all existing Garuda applications. Currently, Rani integrates the functionality of our popular Welcome, Gamer and Assistant apps, providing a centralized hub for essential system management and customization tasks." Garuda Linux is a rolling distribution based on the Arch Linux operating system. The project has published a new snapshot which facilitates the handling of updates and streamlines the distribution's install media. "As of now, garuda-update should be able to handle any conflict that recently occurred mostly due to the already mentioned Arch package name changes. In case you missed it, please read the announcement to understand what is going on. Furthermore, it applies the Archlinux repo migration which happened since our last release, and fixes a few more update potential update blockers. For everyone still using 'pacman -Syu' without being able to work around issues like this manually, please ensure always using garuda-update as it was made exactly for this purpose :blush: A few editions have been dropped from our line-up. The reason behind this is quite simple - they are not getting necessary maintenance or are missing a maintainer. The logical choice is to no longer offer them to the public." Garuda Linux is a rolling distribution based on the Arch Linux operating system. the project's latest release, Garuda Linux 230305, features an improves interface for the setup assistant and replaces Latte-Dock with standard Plasma panels. "The dr460nized edition has in the past relied heavily on Latte-Dock's features. For most of us, it's not news that the development of Latte-Dock has now more or less ceased. This sadly necessitated significant changes, that required replacing Latte-Dock with more standardized Plasma panels. This change takes away somewhat from the dr460nized edition's eye candy appeal factor by losing features like top bar colors/transparency. Usability is also impacted to some degree as it will no longer be possible to drag the top bar to move windows. However, we expect these changes to make the KDE dr460nized edition's desktop experience far more stable, but also different. We feel these new required changes still provide great OOTB visual appeal worthy of being called dr460nized. Since Latte-Dock will inevitably cause instabilities and glitches in the future, we'd highly suggest switching to Plasma panels before it's too late." Garuda Linux is an Arch-based desktop Linux distribution available in a range of desktop environments and window managers, including KDE Plasma, GNOME, Cinnamon, MATE, Xfce, LXQt, Wayfire, bspwm, i3, Deepin, UKUI and Recbox (some of them in both "Ultimate" and "Lite" variants). An updated build, version 201007, is now available for download: "We are happy to announce the release of a brand new Garuda Linux version, called 'Golden Eagle'. With this release, most of the reported bugs have been fixed - along with some other QoL changes to the existing presets. As you might have noticed, we added five new versions to our repertoire: MATE, Cinnamon, Recbox, UKUI and bspwm. From now on, the editions containing window managers (i3, bspwm, Recbox, Wayfire), Deepin and UKUI will be available in 'Lite' editions only.
