Mainstream OS, an Arch-based, user-friendly Linux distribution with a highly customised desktop that uses the Quickshell toolkit on top of the Hyprland compositor, has been updated to version 1.3.0. The project's changelog provides details about the latest round of desktop interface improvements and bug fixes: "Put the dock on any edge of the screen: top, bottom, left or right; the bar steps aside when you give the dock the edge it was using; themes now carry which edge the dock sits on, along with everything else they remember; the flexible-space widget is retired â the bar packs its own sections now, and a layout you already saved moves across on its own; bar pop-ups open centered under the widget they belong to, wherever you have put it; a pop-up near the edge of the screen stays on screen instead of running off it; the media widget keeps its size and its pop-up in the right place outside the center; the timer keeps a steady width while it counts down, instead of nudging its neighbors; dividers stay inside the bar's rounded background; close the window rule editor from its own corner, and switch between rules without closing it...." | Mainstream Linux is an Arch-based Linux distribution with a highly customised desktop using the Quickshell toolkit on top of the Hyprland compositor. It includes a variety of user-friendly features, such as Material You desktop layout, per-workspace layout switching, a session restore option, a gaming mode, as well as a graphical settings tool to customise displays, themes, key bindings, networking and updates. The distribution uses the Calamares system installer with several install modes and applies automatic Btrfs snapshots before every update.
