|
| CLE stands for Chinese GNU/Linux Extensions, it is a collection of Chinese related software on GNU/Linux platform. CLE is based on and optimised for the Red Hat Linux distribution. As with Red Hat, software is packaged in the RPM format. CLE also support other major distributions such as Slackware and Mandrake. You will get a complete Chinese (BIG5/GB) environment under Linux by installing CLE.

News from the CLE project - a brand new set of ISO images of CLE 1.1 (gaga) has been released: gaga-20020625-1.iso (663MB), gaga-20020625-2.iso (661MB) and gaga-20020625-3.iso (307MB). The images contain Red Hat 7.3 + Red Hat updates + CLE specific Chinese language fixes and optimisations. According to the README (in Chinese), you don't need to download the ISOs if you are running Red Hat 7.3 or an earlier CLE release - this APT HOWTO explains how to update your system more conveniently. CLE is a great project, it is completely free with the aim to provide well-tested and bug-free Chinese language environment and input method for Red Hat and other Linux distributions. Check it out.

ThorOS
ThorOS is a Debian-based desktop Linux distribution featuring the GNOME desktop. Its principal feature is "voice control". Using artificial intelligence and a voice assistant called "Jarvis", it is capable to execute commands to accomplish a great variety of tasks. Examples include "Jarvis, open Firefox", "Jarvis, write a thank-you note to my landlord", or "Jarvis, what's 15% of 240". Jarvis is also able to create, open, read, write, move, rename, search and delete files, launch applications, answer general questions, remind the user about appointments, and run terminal commands. The distribution's artificial intelligence assistant is private by default, but can be configured to use a remote source of knowledge, if desired.
