ARMA aka Omoikane GNU/Linux 2.1 has been released. This news will be of interest mainly to those of you who live in Japan, since there is no "free" edition this time. Four different boxed editions are availabe for purchase - Desktop (¥12,800), Desktop/Server (¥39,800), ORCA single license (¥118,000) and ORCA dual license (¥168,000). | Omoikane GNU/Linux, known as OGL, is a Japanese distribution based on Debian's testing branch. It has a user friendly installer based on Scheme and GTK+. The commercial branch of the Omoikane GNU/Linux is knows as ARMA - it includes the most popular Japanese input method "ATOK", RICHO True Type Fonts and other features. A free version of OGL, containing fewer packages, is available from FTP servers and mirrors.

ARMA, formerly known as Omoikane GNU/Linux has released ARMA 2.2. This is a Japanese commercial distribution based on Debian and only available in Japan. It comes in three editions - Desktop (¥9,800), Desktop/Server edition (¥37,000) and ORCA edition (¥118,000). Some of the new features include improved graphical installer, extensive technical support by phone, XFS as the default journaling file system, remote maintenance infrastructure, quick system restore, IPv6 support and updated Japanese input method called ATOK X. ClearOS
ClearOS was a small business server operating system with server, networking, and gateway functions. It was designed primarily for homes, small, medium, and distributed environments. It was managed from a web based user interface, but can also be completely managed and tuned from the command line. ClearOS was available in a free Community Edition, which includes available open source updates and patches from its upstream sources. ClearOS was also offered in a Home and Business Edition which receives additional testing of updates and only uses tested code for updates. Professional tech-support was also available. Currently ClearOS offers around 100+ different features which can be installed through the onboard ClearOS Marketplace.
